🇮🇹 𝐐𝐮𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐨 𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢 𝐢𝐥 𝐧𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐨 𝐎𝐫𝐭𝐨 𝐁𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐨 𝐝𝐚 𝐥𝐮𝐠𝐥𝐢𝐨 𝐚 𝐬𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐫𝐞, 𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐢 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞 𝐜𝐡𝐞:
✅ Molte piante appaiono secche o mancanti per motivi naturali legati al loro ciclo vitale! La nostra missione è rispettare i cicli di vita delle piante e rappresentare il più possibile la diversità vegetale globale. Per questo motivo vale la pena visitare l’Orto Botanico in tutte le stagioni. Le piante che si possono osservare al loro meglio non sono sempre le stesse durante tutto l’anno.
✅ In alcuni casi, si attende la piena maturazione della pianta per raccogliere semi completamente maturi, per poi conservarli e coltivarli l’anno successivo o per partecipare a reti internazionali di scambi di semi con altri orti botanici.
✅ A causa del clima mediterraneo, reso ogni anno più drammatico dai cambiamenti climatici in corso, ci troviamo di fronte ogni estate a una grave carenza di acqua, sia in termini di disponibilità che di qualità. La nostra missione è utilizzare questa fondamentale risorsa nel modo più parsimonioso, anche per ragioni di etica sociale! Pertanto, nonostante l’impegno del nostro staff orticolturale, durante i mesi estivi le nostre piante in coltivazione sono sottoposte a maggiore stress.
🇬🇧 𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐁𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐜 𝐆𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐧 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫, 𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐢𝐧 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭:
✅ Many plants can appear dried or missing due to their natural life-cycle reasons! Our mission is to respect the plants life cycles and to represent as much as possible the global plant diversity. For this reason, the Botanic Garden is worth a visit in each season. The plants that can be observed at their best are not always the same during all the year.
✅ In some cases, we wait for a full ripening of the fruits to collect seeds, in order to store and cultivate the plants the next year or to participate to international networks of seeds exchanges among botanic gardens.
✅ Due to Mediterranean climate, made more dramatic every year by ongoing climatic changes, we face every summer problems in the availability and quality of water. It is our mission to use this fundamental resource parsimoniously, also for ethic reasons! Consequently, despite the commitment of our horticultural staff, during the summer months the plants in cultivation are subjected to more stresses.
