📚Super exciting news!!!

I am pleased to share that "Working While Black: The Untold Stories of Student Affairs Practitioners" is scheduled for release in early 2022! A special thank you to Tione Tomlin for his labor in pulling all of this together and creating a space where we can amplify the voices of Black folks in the profession, especially during this time. It is things like this that get me excited the most!

Check out my contribution in Chapter 14 to this amazing new book entitled, "Walking the Line: Black Student Advocacy and Self Preservation".

A volume in the series: Identity & Practice in Higher Education & Student Affairs. Editor(s): Pietro A. Sasso, Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. Shelley Price-Williams, University of Northern Iowa.

Day 2–

Another amazing and historical day! Each day I grow fonder of the work of this amazing group and it’s continued passion of spreading the words of Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune. I am joined with educators, attorneys, activists, philanthropists, and business owners all who desire the same thing— to uplift the life and legacy of Dr. Bethune.

As we work together to ensure that her last will and testament lives on for generations through commemorating her life with a statue of her in Tuscany, Pietrasanta I know that the relationships and connections developed here will run deep.

Today was complete with a quick tour of the Vatican, a train ride into Tuscany, and an evening filled with love and laughter from colleagues and former classmates.

Totally blessed. Bethune-Cookman University

Day 1–

Although my flight was delayed from DFW and rerouted from Florence to Rome, I had a wonderful time catching up with old and new friends Dr. Sheila Fleming, Ms. Shontericka Hall, members of the BCU Concert Corale, the Lloyd family and so many more!

Today, I spent the day roaming the city, checking out the Collesium and of course chatting it up with the locals.

Tomorrow, I am off to Pietrasanta with the rest of the crew for the hardwork ahead! Bethune-Cookman University

Stay tuned ✌🏾

It is a complete honor to be recognized by the ACPA: Commission for Social Justice Education. The social justice work that I do is rooted in bringing about an awareness in the equity gaps in student success. Being able to collaborate across disciplines and recruit more folks passionate about this work is what I live for. This work cannot be the work of one, but work that can only be done in coalitions.

Thank you again💪🏾✨
