🌱 Bridging Theory & Practice: Green Skills in Action at Wittenborg

How do we move from talking about sustainability to actually preparing learners for green careers? At Wittenborg University of Applied Sciences , this question came to life this May through a strong synergy between the Erasmus+ Green4Adu Project and the BBA Student Project Week on Green Skills & Sustainable Careers.

On 26 May 2026, the Green4ADU consortium hosted an international webinar showcasing how adult learners can develop emerging green competencies.

Highlights included:

✅ The Green4ADU e-learning platform and local workshops across Europe (by Jian Liu, Wittenborg University of Applied Sciences)
✅ The Green4ADU Toolkit (by Agnese Doro, CEIPES ETS), promoting hands-on, non-formal learning approaches
✅ Inspiring expert insights on real-world challenges
🌊 Marine biodiversity & ocean literacy: Ludovica Montecchio (MEDiverSEAty / Ocean-Archive.org) demonstrated how art, science, and education can reconnect people with marine ecosystems.

🏙️ Energy inequality: Marcus Banai (Energy Coach Network, The Hague) highlighted practical solutions supporting vulnerable households and emphasised the need for a just, inclusive energy transition.

These perspectives directly fed into the student Project Week, where students take on the role of consultants—analysing how green skills are valued by employers and developing actionable solutions for sustainable careers.

By connecting international project outcomes with hands-on student learning, Wittenborg continues to ensure that learners are not only informed about the green transition—but are ready to lead it.

🌱 Community and education coming together in The Hague!

On 28 May, Wittenborg University of Applied Sciences and Vadercentrum Adam co-hosted a Green4Adu Project workshop, bringing together adult learners, educators and community members to explore green skills, wellbeing and sustainable career pathways.

The Green4ADU project aims to strengthen adults’ green awareness, competencies, and inclusion in the labour market through practical and accessible learning approaches. During the workshop, participants engaged with interactive tools such as an energy-saving quiz by Marcus Banai representing Stichting Energiegelijk, an e-learning platform by Dr. Cha-Hsuan Liu, and the Plastic Wallet DIY methodology.

💡 A key highlight was the World Café discussions, where participants exchanged ideas on real-life sustainability challenges, explored green training models and identified effective ways to communicate sustainability at the community level.

The outcomes of this workshop will directly inform the project’s research and recommendations, helping shape more inclusive and impactful green learning pathways for adults across Europe.

Great to see how collaboration between higher education and community organisations can turn research into real impact.

A practical methodological guide designed to support adult educators and organisations in promoting mental & physical wellbeing and environmental awareness through outdoor, non-formal education activities. 🌱

Inside the Toolkit you’ll find:
- An introduction to the GREEN4ADU project, partnership, objectives, and results
- Insights into non-formal education methodologies
- Workshop methodologies, activity sheets, templates, and useful materials
- Guidance for replicating workshops in different geographical and educational contexts
- Access to the e-learning platform and training modules

The Toolkit was created to transfer GREEN4ADU know-how at both local and international levels, helping more communities benefit from innovative outdoor learning experiences. 🌍

Ludovica Montecchio is a PhD Candidate in Cultural and Social Anthropology at the University of Milan–Bicocca, working at the intersection of environment, culture, and digital knowledge. Her research includes the project “Ocean-Archive.org,” which reimagines the ocean as a living digital archive.

📚 With a background in environmental education and involvement in the MSCA MEDiverSEAty programme, Ludovica Montecchio brings valuable insights into innovative and interdisciplinary approaches to sustainability.
