🌿 From forest to sea, every journey has its roots

We are almost reaching land, but it's not time to say our goodbyes yet.

As we are near the end of this journey, we are reminded that land and water are never separate. They are part of the same story we are all called to inhabit, responsibly.

Before touching water, each boat begins its story on land.

Throughout TOFOLA, we worked to restore two boats, keeping the tradition of the Serenissima alive while reconnecting it to the present.

Forests, local wood and traditional knowledge are the starting point of a cycle that links nature, craftsmanship and navigation.

TOFOLA set out to highlight the elements that made this journey possible, sharing knowledge and practices along the way, with the hope of inspiring others to navigate their own path, more consciously.

🌊 A legacy that still shapes the way we travel today

We have devoted a great deal of effort to the subject of cultural heritage, seeking to find a way to celebrate it without remaining stuck in the past.

Throughout the TOFOLA project, we have explored how the legacy of the Serenissima can still shape the way we experience tourism today.

By linking cultural heritage to sustainable tourism, we have shown that tradition can become a driving force for innovation: creating authentic, inclusive and respectful experiences.

What stands the test of time is not just what is preserved, but something that we must all take the time to understand and carry with us into the future.

🤝 A new tourism products promotion strategy

We have developed a long-term promotion strategy, and built a strategy it them last.

From mapping local resources to engaging stakeholders, right through to the co-creation of cross-border itineraries, we have developed a framework that transforms heritage into vibrant and sustainable tourism.

A model in which nature, culture and the economy go hand in hand, local communities play an active role, and destinations become interconnected stories.

🌊 From forests to fleets: the routes that shaped a maritime power are ready to take you aboard

In the past three years, we have worked hard to create a route that was respectful to the Serenissima's nature (cambiare?): water, but also the land behind it.

Serving as both starting and finishing points, the timber routes were vital arteries linking the inland forests to the coastal shipyards, where timber became ships and ships became history.

During TOFOLA, and especially as we reached our Final Conference in P**a, we reflected on how these routes are a model for the future of travelling and tourism.

By rediscovering and rethinking the concept of accessible tourism, we have reinterpreted these routes, showing you how local resources can support sustainable tourism:
⚓ reducing environmental impact
🌿 strengthening regional economies
🪵 preserving traditional knowledge

Through our itineraries and restoration activities, we have wrked with local wood, local skills, and local stories to create experiences that are both authentic and forward-looking.

🌿 Rethinking materials in a throwaway world

During our Final Conference in P**a, we explored many topics, with one key message emerging: sustainability is not a trend, but one of our core pillars.

By using local wood for traditional boat restoration, we reduce environmental impact, support regional economies and preserve knowledge that risks being lost.

TOFOLA has put this into practice through its itineraries, the restoration of two boats, and the activities developed throughout the project.

🧭 It's ok to take time and learn along the way.

What we’ve learned through the TOFOLA journey is how to integrate digital tools, storytelling and sustainable management without distorting identity.

The identity of a territory is both resilient and evolving.

Within this balancem traditions and innovation meet, preserving the past while adapting to the present.

🌊 TOFOLA’s goal has never been to alter heritage, but to learn from it, carry it forward and make it meaningful for new generations.

By reinterpreting the maritime legacy of the Serenissima through a contemporary lens, and through restoration activities and advocacy for a different kind of tourism, we have developed routes and experiences that are both accessible and respectful.
