What is missing in the study of emotion expression?
While approaching celebrations for the 150 years of “The Expression of the Emotions in Man and Animals”, scientists’ conclusions on emotion expression are still debated. Emotion expression has been traditionally anchored to prototypical and mutually exclusive facial expressions (e.g., anger, d...

When Corticospinal Inhibition Favors an Efficient Motor Response
Many daily activities involve responding to the actions of other people. However, the functional relationship between the motor preparation and ex*****on phases still needs to be clarified. With the combination of different and complementary experimental techniques (i.e., motor excitability measures...

Classifying Circumnutation in Pea Plants via Supervised Machine Learning
Climbing plants require an external support to grow vertically and enhance light acquisition. Climbers that find a suitable support demonstrate greater performance and fitness than those that remain prostrate. Support search is characterized by oscillatory movements (i.e., circumnutation), in which....

Structure of the Motor Descending Pathways Correlates with the Temporal Kinematics of Hand Movements
The projection system, a complex organization of ascending and descending white matter pathways, is the principal system for conveying sensory and motor information, connecting frontal and sensorimotor regions with ventral regions of the central nervous system. The corticospinal tract (CST), one of....

Kinematic Evidence of Root-to-Shoot Signaling for the Coding of Support Thickness in Pea Plants
Kinematic Evidence of Root-to-Shoot Signaling for the Coding of Support Thickness in Pea Plants
Plants such as climbers characterized by stems or tendrils need to find a potential support (e.g., pole, stick, other plants or trees) to reach greater light exposure. Since the time when Darwin carried out research on climbing plants, several studies on plants’ searching and attachment behavi...
