On 5 June 2026, the international community celebrated World Environment Day, an observance established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1972. The Day represents one of the leading global initiatives dedicated to raising awareness of environmental issues and encouraging concrete action to protect the planet.

The call for applications for admission to the PhD program of national interest in Peace Studies (academic year 2026/2027) has been published. The program was established on the initiative of the Network of Italian Universities for Peace (RUniPace). This innovative program, involving 34 Italian universities—including the University of Padua—and coordinated by Sapienza University of Rome, aims to develop interdisciplinary higher education on the themes of peace, human rights, and conflict and peace studies.

Each year, the European Bureau for Conscientious Objection (EBCO) produces its Annual Report on Conscientious Objection to Military Service in Europe, drawing on contributions from governments, national human rights institutions, NGOs, and solidarity groups. The 2025 Report was released on May 16.

The unlawfulness of the administrative detention of minors in facilities for adults, in breach of Articles 3, 5 and 13 of the ECHR
This article analyses the judgment of the European Court of Human Rights finding Italy in breach of the ECHR for the unlawful detention of H.D., which constituted inhuman and degrading treatment (Article 3), violating the right to liberty and security (Article 5) and the right to an effective remedy (Article 13).
