🎄✨ Christmas Quiz Success! ✨🎄What a fantastic way to kick off the festive season! Yesterday, Saturday the 29th, members of our TESOL Italy Marche family gathered for a special Christmas-inspired meeting.We divided into teams for a bit of friendly competition, tackling five rounds of extra-Christmassy challenges:🎬 Movies🎵 Songs🔤 Festive Anagrams📚 Literature🇬🇧 General UK Christmas Knowledge There was plenty of laughter and cheer, and we hope everyone walked away with fresh ideas to use in their own classrooms this December! 🧑‍🏫❄️A huge thank you to our wonderful host at Oak Tree BnB in Castelfidardo ( https://www.facebook.com/share/1A8oKUfj28/?mibextid=wwXIfr ) for the perfect venue. 🏡❤️Did you miss out? 🎉 Our First T(EA)SOL Social: A Wonderful Beginning! 🎉

What an incredible evening! Our first T(EA)SOL Social brought together teachers from across the region, and the energy in the room was truly special.

We had people from middle as well as high schools and we gathered to share experiences, challenges, and insights—and one theme emerged clearly: we all need support, and we all have something valuable to offer.

These connections remind us why teaching is such a powerful profession. Together, we’re stronger.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and made this evening so meaningful. This is just the beginning of something wonderful for our teaching community!

Our next T(EA)SOL Social will bring some festive cheer with a Christmas-themed event! We’ll be hosting a British-style Christmas pub quiz—think cozy atmosphere, friendly competition, and holiday spirit.

🌍 Happy European Day of Languages! 🌍

Today, TESOL Italy Marche Local Group celebrates the incredible linguistic diversity that makes Europe so vibrant!
With 24 official EU languages and over 60 regional languages spoken across our continent, we’re reminded that every language is a bridge to understanding, empathy, and connection.

As English teachers and TESOL professionals, we witness daily how languages truly “open hearts and minds” - the beautiful theme for 2025.

Every lesson we teach, every conversation we facilitate, and every cultural barrier we help break down contributes to a more connected and understanding world.

Let’s continue inspiring our students to embrace multilingualism and celebrate the power of languages to unite us all! 💙

Resharing our post from last year, as it’s always relevant! 👏

Tired of the same old "Where did you go on holidays over the summer?" question?

Remember that our words matter, so be mindful!
As educators, we have the power to shape young minds. Our language can inspire, uplift, or inadvertently harm. By being mindful of our words, we can create a positive and inclusive learning environment where students feel valued and respected.

Here are some alternative icebreakers to get your students talking:

"What's the most interesting thing you learned this summer?"
“What was your favourite thing you did over the summer?”
“What was the funniest thing that happened to you over the summer?”
“What was the most boring thing you did over the summer?”

The question "What was the most boring thing you did over the summer?" is my personal favorite. It can be a great icebreaker because it's relatable, funny, and can lead to interesting conversations. It also helps everyone feel included, even if they didn't have an exciting summer.

Give these a try and see how your students respond!
