A little sweet aftertaste of previous Murano Glassmeeting while Davide is preparing a program for the new one. A triple (!!!!) demo by Astrid Riedel, Joy Munshower and Kim Fields. Each master made her own bead in her own very special style.
Davide made a joke, "It is not a competition!"
And how could it be? No 1st, 2nd and 3d place are purposed when we talk about such a precised glass work.

What's so special about Davide Penso glass meetings? So many things! Great cast of masters? Yes. Variety of techniques each student can choose? Yes. Great atmosphere and a lot of fun? Of course.
And some extras. Like this collective final demo class with Davide himself, Gianni Tommasi, Cristina Sfriso, Paolo Canedese, Igor Balbi, Agnese Costa and Mauro Bonaventura. Each master made a piece and in the end it was build together by Mauro. Amazing experience which shows that true art needs a collective spirit, free mind and absolute mastership.

Complex glass beads may be so full with shape and colour that it creates a movie effect: flowers, animals and ornament inside seem to be almost alive. This magic has a precise technique on its back which was shown on Alessia Fuga workshop. Being a great artist she knows all glass "montage" tricks including three-dimensional patterns that later make people say "wow!".

Combining the blowing with sculpturing - that was the main task of Dario Frare's lesson in Davide Penso's course. Though it was created for advanced glassmakers it definitely was a challenge for them. Controlling the form of glass while blowing is not so easy but controlling AND forming in the same time is oh not so easy. So bravo to everyone and especially Dario who shared his secrets and made great impact to his students development.

"The artist, the craftsman, and the technician must be one" - that was a credo of the Bauhaus, the famous German design school.
It is as just for glass masters like Igor Balbi. He is famous for his stylish, precise works that require accurate knowledge, excellent taste and great experience. He shared some of his tricks with Davide Penso's course students and that would definitely make a great push for everyone.
Lucky they are!

You may think these are natural shells. But no, it's made of glass. Nature is the best artist and one the highest points of human artistic skills is ability to repeat natural form. As Paolo Cenedese does. And he shared his knowledge for Davide Penso's course students.
Everything went fine! Many thanks to the master and to the students brave enough to go further in their glass adventure.

The ones who had opportunity to see Mauro Bonaventura demo during GAS could remember his attitude. He was silent and serious while making a head sculpture.
And now look at these happy faces! All participants were definately having fun. A looooot of fun using different colours and learning the special technic of Mauro. Glass is not just about making art but also about having great time!

It is Mauro Bonaventura class going on Davide's Penso course (exclusively) and there are more pictures to come.
But now we would like to share the shots of Davide's and Sergio Tommasi demo. They both created a goblet as if they had magic sticks right inside their hands and arms. An incredible process to see! Unfortunately we can not show any video of that - oh no-no, you should see it on your own.
