It is open to all bona fide scholars whose interest is the knowledge of Asian countries and the encounter between Asian values, Human Rights values, and Western values.

Stamattina ho deciso di riempire la libreria. I primi scatoloni che apro sono dei miei libri e le mie pubblicazioni. Rapido calcolo, circa 7000 pagine pubblicate, la maggior parte in stampa.
Come disse Forrest Gump, sono un po' stanchina. E così ho deciso che voglio cambiare vita, nuove sfide, nuove cose curiose e divertenti, vedere un po' di mondi là fuori. E se avete delle idee o dei consigli da darmi scrivetele nei commenti.

Cari amici,
innanzitutto tantissimi auguri di buon Losar a tutti. È un momento complicato per questo esausto Pianeta sotto molteplici aspetti e, oggi più che mai, il pensiero di Sua Santità il Dalai Lama e la saggezza del Tibet a nostro avviso costituiscono la bussola migliore per navigare in un mare agitato da alte onde e venti di tempesta. In questo N° 102 di “The Heritage of Tibet news”, oltre alle tradizionali rubriche, troverete un ricordo di Tulku Thondup Rinpoche, una spiegazione del Losar, una rievocazione dell’insurrezione di Lhasa che seguì il Capodanno tibetano del 1959 e una attualissima riflessione di Sua Santità sul dolore e la possibilità di superarlo.

Non perdiamoci di vista.

National Central Library of Rome: The IsIAO Library, Room of the African and Oriental Collections - Asiatica Association 04/06/2019

The National Central Library in Rome has just opened the "ISIAO library", which includes the books and manuscripts of the ex-IsMEO (the Tucci Fund), and the African collection, both merged in the ISIAO. It's one of the biggest and most important collections of the West.

According to Global Trends 2016, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) reports, one person is forcibly displaced every three seconds, meaning 20 people every minute of the day, nearly 66 million people year, and the number increases every year. The UN High Commissioner Filippo Grandi urges "solidarity and a common purpose in preventing and resolving crisis" to properly protect and care for the world's refugees, internally displaced and asylum-seekers; who currently number 22.5 million, 40.3 million, and 2.8 million, respectively.

“The world’s biggest producer of refugees” remains Syria, with 12 million displaced people. There are 7.7 million displaced Colombians, 4.7 million Afghans and 4.2 million Iraqis. In 2016 "the biggest new factor" was South Sudan, which is in a civil war since 2013, with some 737,400 people fleeing by the end of the year. In 2016 of all the people fleeing war, disasters, and persecution, about 84 per cent relocated in low- or middle-income countries.
