"A letto con il Design - Design Hostel” (“Sleeping with DESIGN - Design Hostel”) is an original proposal in the panorama of events taking place in the city during the Milan Design Week 2017. The project seeks to approach design from “behind the scenes”, and literally enter into the life of the projects and the people thinking and making them.
It’s a space that resembles a hostel, a temporary home or a “liveable factory”, which hybridizes and reinvents all these typologies together. It’s a project that reflects on the theme of hospitality, hosted inside an early 20th century factory building, which will be open during the design week to people who “think and make” design. The protagonists of the project will be welcomed in a temporary hostel which will come to life among the analog and digital factory machinery; every designer guest of the structure will provide a design project to be displayed in a customized setting, designed as a sleeping area. These products will constitute an exhibition visitable throughout the Milan Design Week; an exhibition that will lead us, step by step, through the “design rooms”.
Two press offices will accompany the project focusing on its communication and dissemination. All designs showcased within the space will be published in a printed catalogue with ISBN.

The aim of the call is to select 40 designers or groups of designers who propose a design for a small space (about 8sqm) within the factory. During the day this space will function as an exhibition area for their products and during the night the space will serve as a sleeping area.

“A letto con il DESIGN - Design Hostel” è una proposta originale nel panorama degli eventi che si svolgono in città durante la Milan Design Week 2017. Il progetto cerca di avvicinare le persone al design mostrando il suo “dietro le quinte”, e facendo letteralmente entrare il pubblico nella vita dei progetti e delle persone che li pensano e realizzano.
E’ uno spazio che si dispiega come un ostello, una casa temporanea o una “fabbrica abitabile”, che ibrida e reinventa tutte queste tipologie insieme. Si costruisce così un progetto che ragiona sul tema dell’ospitalità all’interno di una fabbrica del primi del ‘900, che verrà aperta durante la design week agli attori che “pensano e fanno” il design.
I protagonisti del progetto verranno infatti accolti in un ostello temporaneo che si animerà tra i macchinari analogici e digitali della fabbrica; ogni designer ospite della struttura potrà arredarla con un suo prodotto, personalizzandone un “alloggio”. Gli oggetti esposti andranno a creare una mostra collettiva visitabile durante tutta la Milan Design Week; una mostra che ci condurrà, passo dopo passo, nelle “stanze del design”.
Due uffici stampa seguiranno il progetto, curandone la comunicazione e diffusione. Tutti i progetti mostrati nello spazio verranno pubblicati in un catalogo cartaceo e munito di ISBN.

L’obiettivo della call è quello di selezionare 40 designer o gruppi di designer che propongo un progetto da inserire in un piccolo spazio (circa 8 mq) all’interno della fabbrica. Di giorno lo spazio sarà un’area espositiva, mentre di notte si animerà di eventi e funzionerà come ostello.

Design Now exhibition opens again!
We are open starting from today till october, 7th in Mediateca Santa Teresa. The exhibition is part of the programme of Brera Design Days.

Lo scorso mese siete stati alla Design Now Exhibition alla Fabbrica del Vapore? Ve la siete persa? Bhè, siete fortunati: la mostra torna alla fine di questa settimana!

Saremo alla Mediateca Santa Teresa e faremo parte del programma dei Brera Design Days 1-9 ottobre 2016. La mostra sarà aperta al pubblico dall'1 al 7 Ottobre.

Have you been last month at Design Now Exhibition at Fabbrica del Vapore? If you missed it, you are lucky: Design Now EXHIBITION is coming back this week!

We will be at Mediateca Santa Teresa and we will be part of Brera Design Days 1-9 ottobre 2016 programme. The exhibition will be open to the public from 1st to 7th of October.
