'Waiting to open my results on the 6th was probably one of the most anxiety-inducing experiences I've ever had. Mathematics & Hope

To celebrate the International Day of Mathematics, and this year’s inspiring theme 'Mathematics & Hope ', our Primary School came together for a beautiful whole-school project.

From Nursery to Year 6, every pupil contributed by creating a colourful origami crane, each choosing a shade of the rainbow. With the support and leadership of our Year 6 students, this became a truly collaborative effort across the school.

Proudly displayed at our entrance, these vibrant cranes are more than just decorations. They represent the power of working together, our strong sense of belonging, and the role Mathematics can play in shaping a more hopeful, peaceful and beautiful world.

A wonderful example of creativity, collaboration and community in action.

During the summer term, our Primary School staff continued a much-loved BSM tradition by taking pupils to the local park for a celebratory ice cream and time to play together.

These outings offer more than just a treat; they provide a valuable opportunity for children to relax, connect with their peers, and enjoy a shared moment of joy at the end of a busy term. Experiences like these help strengthen friendships, support wellbeing, and celebrate all that our pupils have achieved throughout the year.

Confidence. Resilience. Independence.

The Duke of Edinburgh's Award is one of the many ways BSM supports students in developing the skills and character needed to thrive beyond school. Through challenge, adventure and teamwork, participants build confidence, resilience and independence while discovering what they are capable of achieving.

As our programme continues to grow, including our Gold Award offering, we are proud to see our students benefiting from the opportunities, achievements and personal growth that the Duke of Edinburgh's Award provides.

Developing future global citizens.

Our students participated in a Model United Nations conference, engaging with international issues through research, debate and diplomacy. The experience challenged them to think critically, consider diverse perspectives and communicate with confidence.

Opportunities like MUN are an important part of the BSM experience, helping students develop the skills, understanding and global outlook needed to thrive in an ever-changing world.

Reflecting on his time at BSM, Damiano said:
'There have been highs and lows throughout my few years at BSM, but nothing which didn’t contribute to who I am today and my development through this time. The future seemed far, but now I’m ready for a set of new experiences in a foreign country, independently on my own. I would like to thank everyone at the school: my teachers, classmates, as well as my friends and family, for their unwavering support, even during more difficult moments.'

As a new alumnus, we welcome you to the Sir James Society, Damiano. We wish you every success in the future.
