Project IOT-OPEN.EU: Innovative Open Education on IoT: improving higher education for European digital global competitiveness.

The Poland National Agency fully accepted the Final Report of the project. We've got a great overall evaluation, moreover, our project has been selected as an example of 'Good Practices', so we're in the "wall of fame"!

But what matters is that, at the moment, thousands of young people from more than 80 different countries are watching our MOOCs, they are studying for free by using our books, and they are replicating the exercises proposed in the virtual laboratories made available by our consortium.

Da Londra a Bologna: la smart city non è solo tecnologia

La smart city come processo virtuoso
Non basta il digitale per rendere una città intelligente. Serve la collaborazione tra amministrazione, privati e cittadini.

In questo articolo del Corriere della Sera , il prof. Antonio Puliafito, direttore del Laboratorio Nazionale CINI su "Smart Cities & Communities", ci spiega come la tecnologia e gli investimenti non siano sufficienti a supportare la sviluppo di una smart city, ma come sia fondamentale una più ampia.
Serve un framework aperto che consenta di favorire la ed il delle buone pratiche provenienti dalle eccellenze locali.
È necessaria una gestione integrata dei servizi che veda la collaborazione tra pubblico e privato: il facility management urbano.

“La tecnologia è lo strumento da mettere al servizio dei cittadini. Per controllarla servono una visione ampia, un ambiente aperto, solido e robusto per condividere esperienze, un framework dove innestare le soluzioni e farle comunicare.”

“La smart city non è uno status ma va considerato come un processo, che coinvolge attività da coordinare e da gestire». Quasi un essere vivente che si muove, cambia, cresce.”

“Se una città ha un sistema di gestione dei parcheggi, serve anche l'illuminazione pubblica, che si accenda in base ai movimenti e alla disposizione delle auto. Si tratterebbe di accorgimenti facili da realizzare, che però diventano impossibili se le due soluzioni non dialogano perché fatte da fornitori differenti, in tempi differenti». La città dovrebbe quindi costruire «una piattaforma comune, ancor prima di installare le singole soluzioni che, da sole, rischiano di essere solo vetrine”

“Una città grande può fare un'esperienza che potrebbe essere trasferita altrove. E le eccellenze locali possono portare nuove soluzioni, testarle e condividerle a loro volta.”

"Internet of Things Laboratory Guide”

PREFACE
"This book and its offshoots were prepared to provide a supplementary and practical add-on for the main book on the Internet of Things. The primary goal of this book is to provide a detailed description of the VREL – IoT laboratories with remote access for those, who interface our labs remotely. Its secondary goal is to give ideas on the IoT projects to the bachelor students, master students, technology enthusiasts and engineers.
This book is also a good starting point for teachers, tutors and educators to start preparing of other materials for their implementation of the practical course on IoT, construct their laboratories, develop a module or even full curriculum related to the IoT.
We (authors) assume that persons willing to study this content are already familiar with our “Introduction to the IoT book” or has equivalent knowledge and has at least elementary skills on programming in C, Python and C#.
We believe this manual will help to seamlessly start your work with real IoT devices, whether you have them on your desk or you access them remotely using our VREL model.
Note: Practice makes a master, so enjoy programming IoT!”
