The Food&Wine Conference held in Macerata had a sparkling end! 🍾🍾

A toast was made with all the participants with wines offered by Marchigianamente, a local association of wine amateurs which promotes wines and wineries from Marche Region. For the occasion, the Moncaro Winery was chosen.

The two days successfully passed, with about 80 participant students which attented the conference to gain interesting insights from the many perspectives on the theme.

🏛️🍇📗🖼️ In the first day, on the 21st of November, "Food and Wine identities, arts and culture", meanings and symbols behind food and wine in the history of art; the relevance of giving value to local cultural heritage through wine as a thematic component of the visits to museums; the value of wine and beverage in the Italian, Spanish, French and Latin American literature and in the theatrical plays; Food&Wine and Heritage Marketing; Wine, terroir and their meaningful relationships were among the topics presented.

📈📊 In the second day, on the 22nd of November, "Food and Wine: towards the co-creation of sustainable development paths" a juridical and more economic perspective was taken, highlighting the importance of sustainability in the food systems and in the food chain and the relevance of organic viticulture; the role of the certifications of origin, the problems and opportunities of gastronomic tourism itineraries; the wine as a cultural element in the analysis of the economic thought were also presented.

📚A visit to the municipal library was also organized by prof. Stefano Spalletti, from the Ghino Valenti Lab, to meet the ideas of the agrifood economists of the past in the ancient books.

🏞️In the afternoon, in the session dedicated to co-creation for sustainable development, cases from the University of Macerata were discussed: training for entrepreneurship, the university civic engagement, co-creation through the application of the Quadruple Helix of Innovation; sustainable and gastronomic tourism in rural areas; University-business collaboration; the creation of hubs for food and wine valorization, drinkscapes from the Carabbean, the community engagement for co-creation of contents on Wikipedia for community empowerment and for fostering the online presence of rural areas, were among the topics presented.

A big thanks to the scientific and organizing committee!
Cheers! 🥂🥂

FOODBIZ Final act!

"Regional products, gastronomy, tourism, employment and local development – Links and shared value was the theme of FOODBIZ Final Conference Food@Work, hosted by Poznan University of Economics and Business, on 16 October 2019 attended by business players in food and gastronomy from Wielkopolska region, students from the University of Economics and Business of Poznan, as well as international academic guests and other concerned stakeholders.

The conference highlighted the results achieved through the FOODBIZ project and the local stakeholder networks activated by the university partners in the consortium.

One of the main achievements of the project was the development of local learning communities comprised of students, entrepreneurs, academics and policy-makers who discussed local challenges and possible solutions in a collaborative environment.

Through co-creation events, FOODBIZ partners were able to identify learning needs and design learning resources useful to tackle the knowledge and skills gaps of both students and business players. All materials will soon be available on FOODBIZ online learning platform as downloadable Open Educational Resources for both individual learning and on-demand workshops."

It all ended yesterday but the Italian partners of FoodBiz from Unimc / Università degli Studi di Macerata and the Laboratorio Piceno della Dieta Mediterranea can't help thinking about all the inputs and interesting insights received during their mission to Apulia (Mola di Bari and surroundings) from the 27th to the 30th of June in the context of the Interreg project I-Archeos and Gustiamola event by Teatro Pubblico Pugliese and Gal Sud Est Barese. Field visits and interviews to local producers, big agri-food companies, fishermen cooperatives; new encounters from other regions of Italy (and beyond) related to the agrifood and tourism field for developing new potential partnerships. This will lead to an analysis of the potentials of this sector for the development of the territory and to identify new ways of collaboration in future projects.

Stay tuned...
