Very good article about today's riders shifting from the pursuit of knowledge (about the horse) to the pursuit of validation (of the rider). The article explains why by saying lesson programs are teaching, "Instead of nurturing curiosity and lifelong learning, they often reward status, image, and external success."
The intense commercialism that defines today's horse world has subordinated the focus on the horse in favor of increased importance of the owners and riders. The cause seems obvious. Horses do not have bank accounts or credit cards. Owners and riders do.
Additionally, today's parents have overprotected children making kids insecure, afraid of risk and in need of constant support and recognition. It's no longer a horse world. It's a rider focused world and horses suffer from it.
Please note the article's author is named as "Anonymous". It doesn't pay to tell the truth in today's horse world. I applaud the Plaid Horse for having the courage to publish this.
