The difference in meaning between these two phrases shows how important it is to record new vocabulary accurately.

The phrase 'Make a toast' or more formally 'propose a toast' is used when someone wants to celebrate or honor someone often at a special event such as a wedding. They would get everyone's attention by saying to the group 'I'd like to make a toast, congratulations to.... on....' then everyone would raise a glass and have a drink.

'Make toast' simply means putting bread in a toaster! 😁
