๐ฐ๏ธ New open-source tool from our group: Sentinel Foundry v1.0.0
Our PhD researcher Enrico Magazzino has released Sentinel Foundry, a desktop UI that turns raw Sentinel imagery into analysis-ready Cloud-Optimised GeoTIFFs, point-and-click, no command line needed.
๐ก SAR Foundry (Sentinel-1)
GRD โ calibrated, speckle-filtered, terrain-corrected ARD via ESA SNAP. Choose ฯโฐ standard, ฮณโฐ RTC (terrain-flattened), or import your own SNAP graph. Outputs VV, VH, cross-ratio, RVI, and difference bands per orbit, plus up to 3 custom NumPy expressions. Downloads from ASF or Copernicus CDSE with retry logic and integrity checks that catch corrupted archives before they ever reach SNAP.
๐ฑ Optical Foundry (Sentinel-2)
L2A from AWS EarthSearch โ completely free, no account needed. SCL cloud masking, then biophysical variables (LAI, FAPAR, FCOVER, canopy chlorophyll and water content), spectral bands, and indices like NDVI, NDRE1, MTCI, EVI, all as 10m COGs, with per-tile mosaicking when your AOI spans MGRS tiles.
Everything is self-installing on first run. Windows build available now; run from source on any OS. MIT licensed โ and if you use it in your research, the "Cite this repository" button on GitHub gives you a ready-made citation.
๐ Sentinel Foundry will also be presented as a poster at ASITA 2026, the Italian Conference on Geomatics and Geospatial Technologies (Bologna, 17โ20 November 2026), with an accompanying article in the Atti ASITA 2026 conference annals.
