📢 CALL FOR ORGANISERS: AMPAH 2027 📢

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all the speakers and participants who joined us in Lecce this past May. Your research and engagement made AMPAH 2026 a truly rewarding experience. 🏛️

Building on this success, the Organising Committee is pleased to officially launch the Call for Organisers for AMPAH 2027.
If you would like to bring the next AMPAH to your institution, please send your proposal to: [email protected] by 11th October 2026. Make sure to include:

1. The hosting academic institution;
2. The organising team (including current position and field of study for each member);
3. A statement of commitment to sustainability and accessibility;
4. The publication plan for the conference proceedings;
5. The intended format (in-person, hybrid, or online) and, if applicable, the proposed location.

🎓 Eligibility:
Organising teams must consist of PhD students, PhD candidates, or early-career researchers.

🗓️ Deadlines to remember:

Apply by: 11th October 2026

The selected organising committee will be notified by email by 25th October 2026.

The 2026 edition of the AMPAH conference has officially come to a close. 🏛️✨
It has been an intense and deeply rewarding three days, filled with inspiring exchanges among PhD students and early career researchers who brought incredible energy to every session.
Centered on the theme "From Silence to Speech", this edition explored how the marginalized and unspoken aspects of antiquity can provide powerful historical insights, while fully achieving its mission to offer a safe, inclusive, and interdisciplinary space for early career scholars to network and debate.

The conference was also an opportunity to connect outside the lecture halls. The guided tour of Lecce and the social dinner were wonderful moments for informal discussion and networking, allowing participants to discover and appreciate the cultural heritage of the Salento region.

The success of this initiative is the result of a great team effort. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to:
- The Università del Salento and the Dipartimento di Studi Umanistici for their essential support.
- The Director of the Papirological Museum, Prof. Paola Davoli, for warmly welcoming the event and for the continuous support.
- Dr. Alberto Buonfino, curator and conservator of the Museo Papirologico UniSalento, whose vital contribution and tireless support, from the very early stages of planning through to the final days of the conference, were absolutely indispensable.
- Our sponsors, Quarta Caffè SpA and Martinucci Laboratory, for sweetening our coffee breaks with authentic Salentine delicacies and refreshments.

Great news! Due to several requests, we have extended the deadline for the 2026 Annual Meeting of Postgraduates in Ancient History (AMPAH).
🗓️ NEW DEADLINE: January 23rd, 2026
📍 Location: University of Salento (Lecce, Italy)
📅 Conference Dates: May 27th – 29th, 2026
Theme: Ancient World, Emerging Voices. From silence to speech: recovering marginal voices in antiquity.
We are looking for papers that explore the traces of those often marginalized in traditional narratives (the enslaved, women, foreigners, and subaltern groups) as well as reflections on the fragmentary and elusive aspects of the ancient world.

Submission Details:
✅ Abstracts: Max 300 words.
✅ Languages: English, Italian, Spanish, or French.

✅ Notification of acceptance: By January 31st, 2026.
