During the three-week program, each participant receives daily coachings (in Italian when possible), voice lessons, acting classes, and Italian language classes as well as daily masterclasses and lectures. All students participate in performance opportunities at spectacular local venues in Greve and neighboring Radda, including popular outdoor concerts with piano and orchestra, and - for the first time this year - two double-cast fully staged performances of Suor Angelica. Participants will have personal instruction from some of the most admired professionals in the opera world, hailing from the Metropolitan Opera, La Scala, Juilliard, Oberlin Conservatory, the University of Missouri, Peabody Conservatory, Westminster Choir College, McGill University, and more. Following summers spent at Bel Canto in Tuscany, our alumni have been cast in roles on the stages of The Metropolitan Opera, Royal Opera House at Covent Garden, San Francisco Opera, Washington National Opera, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Theater Aachen, Rossini in Wildbad Belcanto Opera Festival and as soloists with the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra and Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra, among others. Open to serious singers aged 16 and older: jump-start your understanding of the Bel Canto singing technique and immerse yourself in Italian culture with other high-caliber artists. Prepare for college or grad school auditions by perfecting your rep with opera singers and coaches who work in opera houses worldwide. BCT Young Artists will have daily voice lessons, Italian classes, coachings, acting and movement classes, and frequent opportunities to perform. Enjoy day trips to Florence, fantastic food, and total cultural immersion.
