Next week the NATO STO Centre for Maritime Research and Experimentation (CMRE) welcomes more than 100 returning and new participants to the 8th and largest edition of the Underwater Communications and Networking Conference.

This established and growing community of leading experts will gather from 1-3 September in Sestri Levante 🇮🇹 to deepen understanding of the propagation of communication signals underwater, and address evolving challenges and technologies in the field.

Task Force X-Arctic calls in Reykjavik 🇮🇸

Last week, senior representatives from NATO STO Centre for Maritime Research and Experimentation (CMRE), NATO Allied Command Transformation (ACT), and Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Iceland & Directorate for Defence met on board NATO Research Vessel ALLIANCE to discuss the ongoing TFX-Arctic mission.

NRV ALLIANCE’s 10th annual Arctic deployment begins in Iceland, host nation for the first operational experimentation of TFX-Arctic. On shore and at sea, CMRE scientists and engineers are testing integrations of maritime and aerial unmanned systems, with advanced sensing and intelligence technologies.

During a visit to the Centre for Maritime Research and Experimentation (CMRE) in La Spezia, Italy 🇮🇹, on 11 June, our Deputy Commander VAdm James Morely engaged with the centre's Director Dr. Eric Pouliquen, leadership, scientists and experts developing capabilities that contribute to and will help strengthen NATO's deterrence and defence posture in the Arctic, High North, and North Atlantic.

NATO STO Centre for Maritime Research and Experimentation (CMRE) today announces its leading role in Task Force X-Arctic, the NATO - Allied Command Transformation (ACT) Beacon Project designed to demonstrate, for the first time, how networked autonomous systems can deliver persistent multi-domain situational awareness across the North Atlantic, Arctic and High North.
