Task Force X - Arctic is bringing together NATO commands, Allied nations, industry, and academia to explore how advanced sensors, autonomous systems, and new technologies can enhance awareness in the region.❄️
Led by NATO - Allied Command Transformation (ACT) with Centre for Maritime Research and Experimentation (CMRE) as technical lead⚓, this NATO initiative is in support of and aims to improve multi-domain awareness, interoperability, and the integration of innovative capabilities into operations.

⚙️ From research to operational impact!
During a visit to the Centre for Maritime Research and Experimentation (CMRE) in La Spezia, Italy 🇮🇹, on 11 June, our Deputy Commander VAdm James Morely engaged with the centre's Director Dr. Eric Pouliquen, leadership, scientists and experts developing capabilities that contribute to and will help strengthen NATO's deterrence and defence posture in the Arctic, High North, and North Atlantic.
Led by NATO - Allied Command Transformation (ACT), with the CMRE as technical lead, advances autonomous systems and multi-domain sensing to strengthen awareness in this strategically important region.

📰 NATO launches Task Force X-Arctic to strengthen awareness and presence in the Arctic and High North
NATO STO Centre for Maritime Research and Experimentation (CMRE) today announces its leading role in Task Force X-Arctic, the NATO - Allied Command Transformation (ACT) Beacon Project designed to demonstrate, for the first time, how networked autonomous systems can deliver persistent multi-domain situational awareness across the North Atlantic, Arctic and High North.

2 May 1959, NATO’s Centre for Maritime Research and Experimentation was first commissioned as the ‘Supreme Allied Commander, Atlantic Anti-Submarine Warfare Research Centre’.
67 years later, CMRE is NATO’s world-leading research laboratory, continually working to deepen knowledge from seabed to space, and to secure the future of the Alliance at sea.
