Online Conference Digital Memory (in German)
Creating memory in the memorial
SHGL, Lisa Webner, 2021
Digital Memory: New Perspectives for Memorials to N**i Persecutees. Online conference on 25/26 November 2021.
The concentration camp in augmented reality, the survivor as a "hologram", dealing with history via TikTok: These buzzwords point to recent developments in memorial sites that arise in connection with the fundamental digitalisation of our living environment. Memorials have long been actors in the digital transformation, and in many places educational work on N**i persecution makes use of digital means. The conference asks about the relationship between digital innovations in remembrance culture and the work of memorial sites. How can the new hybridity that arises from the interaction of memorials at historical sites of National Socialism and the digital world be meaningfully shaped? We want to explore these questions at a digital conference.
The digital conference prepares the publication of the fourth edition of the "Contributions to the History of National Socialist Persecution", which is scheduled to appear in 2022.
