🌍 Update from Project ENNE+ 🌍

On March 11, 2024, our Spanish partners came together to discuss their roles in the ENNE+ project, focusing on green sector initiatives within vocational education.

We were joined by six experts, including directors from vocational training centers in both urban and rural areas, an analyst from the Chamber of Commerce, a project advisor from Fundecyt, and a technical expert from GPEX. Their diverse perspectives helped shape the conversation around key issues like integrating sustainability into education and addressing challenges in regions facing depopulation.

Some of the highlights included aligning ENNE+ with national sustainability goals, exploring the potential of challenge-based learning, and bridging the gap between academia and industry to better prepare students for the workforce. The importance of using the Hackathon methodology to drive innovation and engage students was also emphasized.

These insights will be instrumental in making ENNE+ a driving force for positive change in both education and the green sector.

We recently held a focus group in Austria to discuss the ENNEPlus project, and it brought some important insights to light. Participants initially found the term "Hackathon" a bit confusing 🤔, associating it more with IT than with VET education and green transformation. There’s a strong sense that the terminology might need a refresh to better align with the project’s goals.

Teachers were identified as key players in making this project successful. Motivated, well-informed teachers can bring new methodologies and green knowledge into the classroom, which is essential 🌍. The group also pointed out the need for better interdisciplinary collaboration among teachers, ensuring that environmental topics are integrated into existing curricula.

We also discussed the importance of getting students interested in green technologies early on, as there’s currently a lack of knowledge or enthusiasm in this area 🌱. Participants believe that incorporating these topics into education from an early stage will help build a solid foundation.

On the topic of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), participants acknowledged their significance but noted that the sub-goals need clearer definitions 📚. Challenge-based learning was also highlighted, with successful examples like community-driven “black-out-prevention” projects.

Finally, there’s a call for a common digital platform to facilitate the exchange of ideas and materials, suggesting integration with systems like Moodle to keep things simple 💻. The focus group wrapped up with a reminder of the importance of motivation and clear certification for participants in the project’s challenges. 🎓

We're excited to share the highlights from our recent Focus Groups in Guimarães and Lisbon 🇵🇹, where experts from various sectors came together to drive innovation in green education and vocational training through the ENNE+ project!

🌱 Challenge-based learning as a valuable tool for enhancing environmental awareness in schools.
🌍 Cross-sectorial and diverse teams are needed to combine skills e.g. VET students with the experience of university professionals.
🔍 Industry Collaboration to develop realistic scenarios and align educational goals with industry needs.

🚀 Throwback to the Kickoff Meeting of ENNE+! 🌍💡

On January 30-31, 2024, the first in-person meeting of the ENNE+ project (Enhancing VET National Networks through Ecoinnovation) took place at the All Digital office in Brussels. This project, running from 2024-2026, aims to boost the capacity of VET providers to drive transformative and sustainable changes in their local communities through networking, capacity building, and challenge-based activities focused on Eco-innovation.

The meeting was expertly led by our project coordinator, EGInA Srl (European Grants International Academy) from Italy. We were thrilled to have the participation of our dedicated partners:

Highlights of the Kickoff Meeting:
👉 Introduction to the project’s objectives, partnership composition, and workplan.
👉 Discussion on key dates for meetings and deadlines.
👉 Announcement of the Social Hackathon in Umbria, scheduled for July 4-7, 2024.

📚 FH Joanneum showcased their educational initiatives and various learning scenarios.
🌿 Innogestiona presented their environmental role and community engagement strategies within the ENNE+ project.

During the second session:
👉 Egina outlined the administrative management of the project and the submission process for partner activities.
👉 FH Joanneum detailed the excellence assurance plan and upcoming related tasks.
👉 EfVET shared the dissemination and communication plan.

The meeting concluded with an interactive session where partners identified potential local stakeholders and discussed collaboration opportunities. We also introduced our social media strategy, which will be launched soon.
