Last day, new technique. This is Egg tempera and gilding. Amazing how these students have improved in the span of 3 days. Lorenzo il Magnifico would have been proud of this portrait.

Thirteen year old students trying their hand at Fresco! They are brothers: one is very accurate and super focused on details, the other is a free spirit verging on expressionism. Each one gave their own rendition of the Medici Family Crest with very interesting results.

Yesterday we met a lovely student who is doing research on illuminated manuscripts and wanted to stay in theme for her egg tempera and gold leaf workshop. We gave her the detail from a manuscript that can be found at the San Marco Museum in Florence and it came out beautifully! ✨
