Special Issue: The Economics of Spirits Markets
Guest Editors:
Adeline Alonso-Ugaglia (Bordeaux Sciences Agro)
David Moroz (EM Normandie)
Deadline for submission: December 31st 2024
The editors of Wine Economics and Policy invite submissions for a special issue dedicated to the economics of the spirits market. The spirits sector holds significant economic importance, with its products being both produced and consumed worldwide. This industry encompasses a diverse array of products, including Scotch whiskies, French cognacs, Mexican tequilas, Chinese baijiu, and local craft spirits. In recent years, the global spirits industry has experienced a remarkable transformation, spurred by shifting consumer preferences, technological advancements, and evolving regulatory landscapes. This transformation is occurring within a broader context marked by geopolitical tensions, rising production costs, challenges in accessing raw materials, inflation, protectionism, and climate change—all of which necessitate a reexamination of the sector’s strategic fundamentals. This special issue seeks to capture the latest research on these dynamic markets and provide a comprehensive understanding of the economic forces shaping the spirits industry.

New Issue Available and Call for Papers
Dear Colleagues,
we are pleased to inform you that WEP new issue is officially out. All articles are available online at this page:
https://oaj.fupress.net/index.php/wep/issue/view/642
We would like to thank all of those who contributed to the Issue, especially the reviewers, who, with their valuable work, help us to keep the quality of the articles high.
Starting from the next issue, to further improve the speed with which accepted articles are published and, above all, indexed by SCOPUS, we will implement a new operating protocol for you visible only online. This is an option we offer to the research community in order to expedite the dissemination of scientific information as soon as possible after acceptance.
We hope that these innovations contribute to making WEP an increasingly suitable tool for the international scientific community that is interested in wine economics and policy.
We are also pleased to announce that, with this issue, a new “interviews” section has been introduced under the supervision of Co-editor in Chief Nicola Marinelli and Business Editor Peter Hayes. The section was created according to the guidelines and ideas that Peter Hayes introduced with his editorial in Vol. 9 Issue 1: Bridging the gap between research and business in a time of extreme changes in the scenario and creating new opportunities for Academia and Industry to work together and benefit from each other.
New submissions are welcome for the next issues on this new platform at the following link:

Before submitting a new article is necessary to register following the given instructions.
WEP Editorial Board will be glad to provide any further information by writing an email at: [email protected].
