What stories inspire the people shaping fashion?
This summer, members of the Polimoda community and leading voices from the fashion industry open their bookshelves to share the titles they'll be reading over the holidays.

From dystopian fiction and literary classics to books on art, travel, music and personal growth, every recommendation offers a different perspective on creativity, culture and contemporary life.

The latest Polimoda Journal article brings together reading suggestions from students, mentors and industry professionals, creating a summer library designed to inspire long after the last page.

How do you reinterpret an iconic jewellery brand without losing its identity?

For the latest edition of Creative Horizons, Undergraduate students in Fashion Styling and Fashion Art Direction collaborated with Pomellato to develop four original campaigns inspired by the brand's N**o and Iconica collections.

Through concepts exploring abstraction, transparency, equestrian heritage, and Milan's aperitivo culture, students created complete creative proposals spanning campaign imagery and retail installation design. Developed as professional industry briefs, the projects culminated in a presentation at Pomellato's Florence boutique and across the brand's digital channels.

Summer break is almost here, and with it, some changes to our campus hours.

Villa Campus: closed from August 10th to August 16th�
Manifattura Campus: closed from August 3rd to August 16th

Throughout August, all campuses will operate on reduced hours, from 8:30am to 5:30pm, and will remain closed on Saturdays.

We hope you get some well-deserved rest this summer.

Polimoda has announced a new partnership with South by Southwest (SXSW), one of the foremost global gatherings for cultural and creative innovation.

The collaboration brings Polimoda to SXSW 2027 in Austin, Texas, and lays the foundation for a new Undergraduate program in Event Management, developed together with SXSW and launching with the October 2027 intake. The three-year program combines creative experience design, technical production skills, and management training, preparing graduates to plan and produce events across fashion and entertainment.
"SXSW is a global hub for cultural and creative innovation, a place of real significance for building connections between higher education, industry, technology, and the new languages of our time," said Massimiliano Giornetti, Director of Polimoda.

Art and fashion have always spoken the same language. This year, Polimoda's graduating Fashion Design students made the conversation visible.

Anson Lin traced Cy Twombly's obsession with Greek mythology through forty years of life in Italy. Lusine Mkrtchyan let the cinematic shapes and colors of Sergei Parajanov become the architecture of her collection. Vincenzo Junior Marrazzo took the risks Pasolini took, and asked what fashion could say about power and transgression. Diana Avetisian turned to David Lynch's meditation on memory and constructed reality to explore femininity as performance.

Since 1986, Florence has been home to an FIT partnership that has helped shape fashion education internationally.

Polimoda and the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) have renewed the agreement that has connected the two institutions for 40 years, ensuring the continuity of the FIT in Florence program, which brings New York City-based FIT students to the heart of the Italian city each year.

At Polimoda's Manifattura Campus and Villa Campus, students find themselves immersed in Italian fashion culture, with access to garment-making workshops, leather goods and textile research facilities, photography studios, and direct exposure to "Made in Italy" production.

The signing of the agreement during the Polimoda Graduate Show 2026, marked the first meeting between Polimoda President Niccolò Ricci and FIT President Jason S. Schupbach, both of whom took office this year.

Two new leaders and 40 years of shared history to build on.

Studio Dennis Vanderbroeck is not a design agency. It is an artistic practice. "When it's a play, I read the play, and when it's Rosalía, I listen to Rosalía."

Dennis Vanderbroek, the spatial designer behind Rosalía's Lux Tour, joined Polimoda for the second year running for a session with Fashion Styling and Fashion Art Direction students. The brief: design a space for a fashion brand, departing from a single artistic reference supplied by a hypothetical client, ranging from photographer Wolfgang Tillmans to performance artist Anne Imhof. We sat down with him to talk about interdisciplinarity, narrative-driven work, and a fashion industry that is finally making room for it. "We just came out of a long cycle where narrative-driven work within this space wasn't very welcome." That is changing.

Fernanda Castro, a Polimoda alumna, also brought her work to the Lux Tour, designing one of the looks that has captured the world's attention.

Something special just wrapped up at Polimoda.

The Junior Summer Camp has just come to a close at Villa Campus. Over five days, a group of young makers took part in Weaving Futures, an experience built around fabric as a creative language. From intuitive textile painting and freestyle patchwork to creative recycling and collective weaving on wide-mesh nets, each child explored their own voice through materials, textures and color in ways that were entirely their own. The week ended with a presentation of everything they had made: personalized T-shirts, tote bags and a shared installation that captured everything they had built as a group.

Polimoda has always believed that curiosity deserves to be nurtured early. This is one way of doing it.

Polimoda's Best Collection 2026 goes to Emilie Wenckstern for No Longer Human, presented at the Graduate Show 2026 in Florence.

She had never worked with leather before this collection, and learned by hand, molding it over and over until it held an artificial anatomy. The idea behind it started with a question she asked an AI: if you had a body, would it still be human? The answers stayed with her, fragments of a body that never quite added up. A half mask covering the mouth closes the thought, playing on what still separates us from dolls and mannequins.

The jury, made up of Eva Cavalli, Tuomas A. Laitinen, Danae Mercer, Eugene Rabkin, and Simona Tabasco, selected the collection for its originality, technical ex*****on, and design coherence.
