Fourth step.

Creating the external shape and start the emptying. You can easily recognize the drill's marks that allowed me to isolate the external part and save it from cracks.
From here I've stopped taking pictures, so I have to bring you straight to the ended sculpture called "Acqua".
Thanks for your attention, hope you enjoy!

Third step.
Here we find the shaping process made with the compass. A different starting measuring point from the top to the bottom of the piece to reach the same shape but in a different position. The sixth (n°15) picture reveals two dots from which I took measures to reduce the width of the shape on top. We can also see the two uncutted blocks on sides from which i got two human figures.

The second step is to figure out from where it's better to start making a flat line, searching for a frame in wich we'll find a flat surface. In that case i needed to make a parallelepiped.

This is possible using a ruler to check the quality of the cutting on each side of the frame time by time. Afterwards we can cut the middle of the surface. After making sure that the area obtained is accurate,we can repeat this process on any other side with an inclination of 90 degrees from the previous.

Next step,searching for the shape.

Let us start by looking at few pictures that I made years ago about the process of sculpting with marble. Unfortunately i didn't take many pictures, but I hope the ones I have are useful.
The block I've choosen comes from the "Acquabianca" quarry
in Gorfigliano,Minucciano,Lucca; a beautiful place that stands on the slopes of Mt. Pisanino.

First it's good to remove broken or spoiled parts ,after that's done, we can start to figure out if the volume is enough to encase our project.
