I’ve been seeing a really disturbing trend on social media this summer.
The women I follow are literally shrinking before my eyes.
And I doubt it’s happening through diet and exercise alone.
As someone who has spent the last few years studying integrative medicine and Ayurveda, it’s unsettling to watch this unfold in real time.
One of the principles I keep coming back to in Ayurveda is this:
Don’t give the body something externally that you can cultivate its ability to produce or regulate naturally.
Rather than constantly supplying a shortcut, we create the right environment for the body to do what it already knows how to do.
We kindle Agni.
We eat appropriately.
We move.
We sleep.
We work with our physiology rather than constantly overriding it.
And this brings me to GLP-1.
Your gut already contains specialized cells called L-cells that produce GLP-1 in response to nutrients. Fiber, healthy fats, certain plant compounds, and the products of a healthy gut microbiome can all participate in this signaling.
In other words, your body already has the machinery and the inner intelligence.
So before we reach for another shortcut, I think it’s worth asking:
What does my body need in order to do this better on its own?
This is where Ayurveda gets really interesting.
Viscous plant fibers.
Healthy fats (snehana)
Whole foods.
Warming spices.
A healthy digestive fire (Agni)
Not a magic pill. Not a needle. Not a miracle food.
Just giving the body the raw materials and the environment it needs to function well.
So I made a little 5-minute Golden Fiber Pudding using simple, whole foods designed to support satiety, digestion and the natural gut signals involved in GLP-1 secretion.
Want the recipe? Simple. DM me “pudding” and I’ll send it to you.
And no, this isn’t me telling anyone what medication they should or shouldn’t take.
It’s simply a reminder that your body is not passive.
It is constantly sensing, responding, adapting and producing what you need.
Sometimes the most powerful intervention is learning how to support that intelligence.
