The "Little Stars" preschool group took part in an interactive mathematics activity during which the children discovered, through play and movement, the differences between a circle and an ellipse, while learning that geometric shapes can also represent movement paths.

The children walked along paths created on the classroom floor in the shape of a circle and an ellipse, carefully observing the similarities and differences between the two shapes. Through guided questions and exploratory games, they described the shapes using words such as "round" and "oval", gaining an understanding that each path provides a different movement experience.
🤸‍♀️🎨 Learning Through Play and Creativity
Working together in teams, the children used their own bodies to create circles and ellipses, collaborating to represent each shape as accurately as possible. During the creative part of the activity, they drew the paths they had explored and made connections between movement and graphical representation. Through these experiences, they developed their spatial awareness, critical thinking, mathematical vocabulary, creativity, and teamwork skills.

In this activity, the children from the “Little Frogs” senior preschool group embarked on a fascinating journey into the world of geometric shapes, where imagination and mathematics came together to reveal one of the most beautiful mysteries of the universe: how stars can transform into perfect geometric forms.

The adventure began with a special challenge from the wise Plato, who sent the children a mysterious message: “Look carefully at the starry sky! Do you think the stars hide geometric secrets? Let’s discover together the shapes hidden inside them!”

Curious and enthusiastic, the young explorers observed different images of stars and discussed the shapes they could recognize. Through observation, questions, and dialogue, they discovered that stars can contain triangles, rectangles, and many other interesting geometric shapes.

To better understand these forms, the preschoolers took part in a movement and cooperation game in which they used their own bodies to create geometric shapes. Working together as a team, the children positioned themselves to form triangles, rectangles, and other geometric outlines, discovering the characteristics of each shape in an active and enjoyable way. This experience helped develop their spatial awareness, teamwork skills, and ability to recognize and represent geometric shapes in the world around them.

The joy of discovery continued during the hands-on activities, where the children analyzed, identified, and constructed geometric shapes based on star models. Project Journal “Math Magic in Motion (3M): Cultural and Historical Adventures for Preschool Children” - Activity 10.6

As part of the Erasmus+ project “Math Magic in Motion,” the children from the group “The Little Stars” took part in the mathematics activity “Stories with Geometric Shapes,” a learning experience based on play, exploration, and creativity.
Starting from geometric shape characters, the preschoolers identified and described the circle, square, triangle, and rectangle, observing the characteristics of each shape and their role in creating original stories in which the main characters were the geometric shapes they had made themselves. Through this interactive activity, children used their imagination while developing their logical thinking, observation skills, and communication abilities.

The children from the “Little Frogs” Group 🐸 took part in the mathematics activity “Story Time with Shapes”, through which they explored geometric shapes using stories, drawing, and creative play.
During the activity, the children:
🔹 recognized and named the basic geometric shapes – the circle, square, triangle, and rectangle;
🔹 listened to a story about the shapes 📖 and identified the characteristics of each one;
🔹 discussed the roles of the characters 🗣️ and how they cooperated within the story 🤝;
🔹 drew their own geometric characters, choosing their shapes, colors, and details;
🔹 created original stories using the characters they had designed;
🔹 presented their stories to their classmates , practicing oral expression and active listening.
Through this activity, the children strengthened their knowledge of geometric shapes , developed their creativity, enriched their vocabulary, and improved their ability to create and tell a story while following a logical sequence of events 🧩.

**ERASMUS+ MATH MAGIC IN MOTION (3M) PROJECT JOURNAL – Activity 10.4 "The Entry Code to Plato's Academy"**

As part of this activity, the children from the **"Little Squirrels"** Hungarian preschool group practised recognizing geometric shapes while discovering, in an age-appropriate way, a few ideas inspired by the philosophy of **Plato**.

The activity began with a story about **Plato's Academy** and how Plato believed that imagination and critical thinking help us understand the world. The children learned that imagination is a special place where we can create beautiful and perfect things. They also discovered that what we see at first glance is not always the whole truth and that it is important to observe carefully, ask questions, and think critically in order to understand more.

Inspired by the story, the children found out that, in order to enter **Plato's Academy**, they first had to decipher a secret code made up of geometric shapes. They identified and named the familiar shapes, then arranged them in the correct sequence to reveal the access code. By observing carefully and working together, they successfully solved the challenge and symbolically entered the Academy.

Once the gates were opened, the children received a letter inviting them to a celebration at **Plato's Academy**. For this special occasion, each child decorated a cone-shaped party hat by painting geometric shapes on it. Using their favourite colours, they created original designs featuring circles, squares, triangles, and rectangles, expressing both creativity and imagination.

To conclude the activity, the children participated in movement games and dancing, celebrating their successful mission.

The activity took place in a warm and enjoyable atmosphere, giving the children the opportunity to combine play, creativity, and mathematical exploration in a meaningful and engaging learning experience.

A „Mókusok” csoport (magyar tagozat) kisgyermekei a tevékenység során a geometriai formák felismerését gyakorolták, és életkoruknak megfelelő módon ismerkedtek meg Platón filozófus néhány gondolatával.

A foglalkozás Platón Akadémiájáról szóló történettel kezdődött, valamint arról, hogy Platón szerint a képzelet és a gondolkodás segít bennünket a világ megértésében. A gyermekekkel megbeszéltük, hogy a képzelet egy különleges hely, ahol szép és tökéletes dolgokat alkothatunk. Azt is megtudták, hogy amit első pillantásra látunk, nem mindig a teljes igazság, ezért fontos figyelmesnek lenni, megfigyelni a dolgokat és kérdéseket feltenni, hogy többet fedezhessünk fel.

A történet alapján a gyermekek megtudták, hogy Platón Akadémiájára csak akkor lehet belépni, ha megfejtik a geometriai formákból álló kódot. Felismerték és megnevezték az ismert formákat, majd a megfelelő sorrendbe rendezték őket, hogy megtalálják a belépő jelszót. Megfigyeléssel és együttműködéssel sikerült megoldaniuk a feladatot, és jelképesen beléphettek az Akadémiára.

A kapu megnyílása után a gyermekek egy levelet kaptak, amelyben meghívást kaptak a Platón Akadémiáján rendezett ünnepségre. Erre az alkalomra minden gyermek egy kúp alakú kalapot díszített geometriai formák festésével. Kedvenc színeiket választották, és köröket, négyzeteket, háromszögeket, valamint téglalapokat ábrázoltak, változatos és egyedi mintákat alkotva.
A foglalkozás végén a gyermekek mozgásos játékokban és táncban vettek részt.

A tevékenység kellemes légkörben zajlott, és lehetőséget adott a gyermekeknek arra, hogy a játékot, a kreativitást és a matematikai felfedezést összekapcsolják.

Inspired by the story of the Greek mathematician **Apollonius**, the children explored the fascinating world of geometric shapes. Through hands-on activities, they discovered that different cuts made through a paper cone can produce shapes such as a **point**, a **circle**, and an **ellipse**. The young explorers observed, compared, and made predictions, developing their logical thinking and observation skills throughout the activity.

The learning experience continued with a movement game in which the children used their own bodies to represent the geometric shapes they had discovered, transforming mathematics into an energetic and joyful experience. 🌟 A „Mókusok” csoport felfedezi a geometria varázsát Apollóniosszal! 🌟

A „Mókusok” csoport óvodásai nagy lelkesedéssel vettek részt az „Apollóniosz és a kúp varázslatos metszetei” című oktató tevékenységen, amely különleges tanulási élményt nyújtott számukra, ötvözve a matematikát, a művészetet és a mozgást egy vonzó és interaktív formában.

Az ókori görög matematikus, Apollóniosz történetéből kiindulva a gyermekek felfedezték a geometriai alakzatok lenyűgöző világát. Gyakorlati tevékenységek során megtapasztalták, hogy egy papírkúp különböző módon történő elvágásával milyen formák jöhetnek létre, például pont, kör és ellipszis. A kis felfedezők megfigyeltek, összehasonlítottak és feltételezéseket fogalmaztak meg, miközben fejlődött logikus gondolkodásuk és megfigyelőképességük.

A foglalkozás egy mozgásos játékkal folytatódott, amelyben a gyermekek saját testükkel jelenítették meg a felfedezett geometriai formákat, így a tanulás örömteli és energikus élménnyé vált. A tevékenység végén minden óvodás elkészítette saját kreatív kollázsát, amelyet „Apollóniosz formái” ihlettek, bemutatva fantáziájukat és kézügyességüket.

The activity began with the story **"The Rescue Rectangle – The Secret of the Scrolls,"** which introduced the children from the **"Little Bees"** preschool group to an exciting adventure filled with mystery and discovery. Through the story, the children met **Raia** and **Ravi**, two clever rectangles who needed their help to uncover the secret of the scrolls and save the animal parade.

To accomplish this mission, the children took part in a series of interactive activities designed to help them explore and discover the characteristics of the rectangle.

🔸 **"Discover the Rectangle"**

The children identified rectangles in the story illustrations and explored their main characteristics by comparing them with other geometric shapes. Through observation and discussion, they recognized the sides and corners of this geometric figure.

🔸 **"Build the Rescue Bridge"**

Working together, the children built a bridge using a variety of construction materials and building blocks so that the animal parade could continue its journey. During the activity, they identified the rectangles used in the bridge and discovered the importance of this shape in creating strong and functional structures.

🔸 **"Solve the Scroll Challenges"**

The children participated in an interactive digital game in which they identified and selected rectangles from among other geometric shapes. They then reinforced their learning by completing worksheet activities focused on rectangles, practising how to recognize and represent this shape in different contexts.

Throughout the activities, the children collaborated, communicated, and discovered that every challenge they solved brought them one step closer to uncovering the mystery of the scrolls. During the activity carried out with the “Butterflies” group 🦋, the children entered a magical world called Geo 🌍, a land where all the characters were geometric shapes.

They listened to a story 📖 about this land and how its peace was disrupted by the appearance of a huge crack 🌋 right in the middle of the city. King Circle ⚪ was in danger of falling, and the other shapes tried to save him, but without success: circles could not stop rolling, and triangles 🔺, although sharp, could not provide stability. The situation was becoming more and more serious.

The solution came from the rectangles 🟦, which, although different in shape (some long, others wider), had something essential in common: four straight sides and four strong corners. They showed that through proper placement and teamwork 🤝, they could form a stable structure. Thus, the rectangles joined together and built a solid bridge 🌉 over the crack, saving King Circle. From that moment on, the rectangle was recognized as a strong and reliable shape – a true “hero” ⭐.

Starting from this story, the children were encouraged to identify rectangles in their environment 🔍, recognizing them in familiar objects such as books 📚, tables, or doors 🚪 and observing their characteristics.

The activity continued with the practical recreation of the key moment from the story 🏗️. Working in teams 👧👦, the children built their own “rescue bridges” using various materials, directly experiencing how rectangles can form stable structures when properly arranged.

To reinforce their knowledge, the children carried out consolidation activities 🎨, coloring and sorting geometric shapes, distinguishing rectangles from other shapes and recognizing their properties.

The activity ended with a reflection discussion 💬, where the children explained what they had discovered and understood why the rectangle is a stable, useful, and “heroic” shape.

The atmosphere was full of involvement, collaboration, and joy of discovery 🌈, proving that mathematics becomes easier to understand when learned through storytelling, play, and hands-on experience.

The preschool children from the "Smurfs" group participated with great enthusiasm in the mathematics activity entitled "The Square Wheel Problem: Why Do Wheels Need to Be Round?", a learning experience based on exploration, discovery, and the joy of understanding the world around them.

The activity began with the viewing of the animation "Pythagoras' Lost Portrait", which captured the children's attention and introduced them to an atmosphere full of curiosity and mystery. Starting from the story of people in ancient times who sought ways to move heavy objects more easily, the children were encouraged to observe and investigate the geometric shapes circle and square and the way these shapes influence the movement of objects.

Through demonstrations, experiments, and hands-on activities, the children compared square and round objects, observing with interest that some roll smoothly and easily, while others move unevenly and stop frequently. They tested, repeated, asked questions, and formulated their own explanations, thus developing their observation skills and critical thinking.
Step by step, the young explorers discovered the connection between the shape of objects and the way they move. They identified the corners and edges of square shapes, compared the smooth and curved surfaces of round objects, and used new vocabulary to describe their observations.

The children participated in a movement game organized in two groups, during which they rolled various objects and observed how they moved along an applied obstacle course. At the end of the activity, they completed worksheets in which they had to match each object with the appropriate path, color only the objects that roll, and circle the object that moves faster on uneven ground.

To reinforce and assess their new discoveries in an engaging way, the children took part in the interactive Wordwall game "Does It Roll or Not?" By classifying images according to how objects move, they applied the knowledge gained during the experiments, demonstrating that they could distinguish between objects that roll and those that do not.

Through active participation in experiments and games, the preschoolers enriched their mathematical vocabulary, learned to compare and classify objects according to their properties, and discovered, in an age-appropriate way, the importance of shape in everyday life. “The Problem of the Collapsing Towers in Athens” 🏛️✨

This activity is part of the Erasmus+ project “MATH Magic in Motion – 3M Culturally and Historically Responsive Adventures for Preschool Children” 🌍📚, representing Activity 9.7 within a broad series of educational initiatives dedicated to learning through movement, play, and exploration 🧠🎲🏃‍♀️.

During today’s activity, the children embarked on a fascinating journey back in time to Ancient Greece 🏛️🇬🇷, where they discovered, through an educational video 🎥, that geometric shapes have been part of human life for thousands of years and have played an essential role in the construction of some of the greatest monuments of the past.

In a child-friendly manner, the little ones were introduced to the ideas of Pythagoras 📐🔺 and learned how Greek builders had to find ingenious solutions to erect impressive towers and columns capable of withstanding the test of time. Curious and eager to learn, the children followed with great interest the challenges faced by the builders of those times and discovered that the success of a construction depends on having a stable foundation and choosing the appropriate geometric shapes.

Inspired by these discoveries, we all became little “Builders of Athens” 👷‍♀️👷‍♂️🏛️. Through observation, problem-solving, exploration, and understanding cause-and-effect relationships, the children attempted to build their own towers using wooden blocks of various geometric shapes 🟡🔺🟦.

Through repeated trials, observations, and comparisons, the children discovered that a solid foundation is the key to a strong structure and that the selection and arrangement of shapes influence both the stability and the height of the towers 🏗️✨. Every challenge became a learning opportunity, and every collapsed tower turned into a new chance to search for solutions, formulate hypotheses, and understand that mistakes can often help us build stronger and higher.

Throughout the activity, the children were accompanied by their friends from the Math Magic universe, Luma 🙋🏼‍♀️✨ and Milo 🙋‍♂️💫, who encouraged them to observe, experiment, and joyfully discover the fascinating world of mathematics.

Through this experience, the children developed their logical thinking, observation skills, problem-solving abilities, and understanding of the relationships between shapes and structures, discovering that mathematics, science, and history are beautifully interconnected and can be explored through play and curiosity 🌟📐.
