⛵ You've done the theory. You've got some miles under your belt. Now you want to actually skipper a boat.

Day Skipper practical is where it clicks. Pilotage, passage planning, boat handling, anchoring, picking up a mooring without looking like a complete idiot in front of the whole harbour.

Five days. Real sailing. Real responsibility. You'll make mistakes - that's the point. Better here with us than out there on your own.

By the end of the week you'll have the confidence to take a boat out yourself. Properly.

Competent Crew is where everyone starts. No experience needed. No stupid questions. Just five days learning the basics properly - knots, helming, sail handling, how not to fall overboard - all while cruising the Italian Riviera.

By Friday you'll be useful crew. Actually useful. The kind people want on their boat.

October to December is when serious sailors train. The fair-weather crowd has packed up. The marinas are calm. The instructors aren't rushing. And you get more time on the helm, more one-to-one attention, and better learning conditions than you'd ever get in peak season.

Whether you're just starting with Competent Crew, stepping up to Day Skipper, or going for Yachtmaster Offshore - sail or motor - autumn and early winter is genuinely the smartest time to do it.

⛵ Here's the thing about learning to sail in October:

Nobody's watching. There's no pressure to look like you know what you're doing. You can mess up a tack, ask a stupid question, take your time. The Med is quiet. The weather is kind. And by the end of the week you'll actually know what you're doing.

Competent Crew if you're starting out. Day Skipper if you want to take the helm. Yachtmaster Offshore prep and exam if you're ready for the big one - sail or motor.

⛵ Two ways to spend a week in Italy:

Option A: Poolside. Nice enough. Bit hot. Same lounger. Same book. Same routine. Home feeling... rested, maybe.

Option B: Learning to sail the Ligurian coast. Different harbour every night. Dolphins off Portofino. Aperitivo in places you can't reach by car. Home with a qualification, a tan, and a story nobody else at the office has.
