Yesterday and today, the CAREERS AROUND ME project is being presented at the Festival of Europe.
Yesterday we talked about the importance of early career education highlighting the role of European recommendations and guidelines.

Career Management Skills can help plan and improve services.
University of Camerino has used it to improve the career services and resources for students.
Today the full platform of services and tools was presented to students mapping each service to the Career Management Skills area of the model proposed by the CAREERS AROUND ME Project.

In a fast changing world, which skills do citizens need to manage their career?
A new framework of CAREER MANAGEMENT SKILLS has been created by a network of expert from different EU countries.
The framework has 6 main areas of skills and represents a reference to plan and improve guidance services for different targets.
Here is the framework with the 6 areas and the different skills described with different levels of proficiency. The logo, a play button, reminds us of the importance of the individual's activation in building their career,
the circle around highlights the context where we aim to thrive.

The work comes after a long desk research where frameworks from different countries were reviewed and compared in light of the most recent literature.

We are back! The partnership just met in Wien where the new Career Management Skills framework was presented together with its application in local pilot actions in 6 European countries.

The main goal of the CAREER project is to promote a better understanding of career management skills and explore the use of innovative technologies in the career management skills development process. The project thus responds to the current changes in the labour market and the increasing impact of technology. There is on-going debate and speculation about how we will work, learn and live in the future and certainty that the forms of work and skills required will constantly evolve. Career guidance services can respond to this transformation by embracing technology. Innovative use of technology can offer new forms of support, easier access to information and reach wider audiences thereby enhancing services offered. Job vacancies describe the skills to be applied in performing tasks at work; education and training programmes can deliver many forms of knowledge, skills and attitudes in specific disciplines and professions. However, very often there is limited attention paid to the skills we need to cope with complexity and change and to understand our own needs and manage our careers (e.g communication, planning, self-assessment of skills, analysing information, decision-making).
