Today marks the last chapter of our summer reading journey — thank you for reading with us all month long! 🤗 If you've signed up to our newsletter, the material for week 4 is already in your inbox.

As you will have understood by now, at Chatterbox we nurture a strong reading culture to help children grow into confident readers. We also regularly share free didactic English materials for children, especially for holidays and special occasions — Halloween, Easter, Summer, and more. 📖💬 Week 3 of our Summer Reading Project has arrived!
If you've signed up to our newsletter, the week 3 materials are waiting in your inbox and we hope you like them! 😉

One of our favourite reading moments at school is shared reading — when teachers and children read together, pause to predict what might happen next, explore characters’ feelings, and connect the story to real life.
These sessions build comprehension, empathy, and confidence… and they’re just as magical at home!

Here are some ideas to practise shared reading at home:
1️⃣Turn‑taking reading — Take turns reading pages to keep the experience fun, supportive, and interactive.
2️⃣Picture‑talk moments — Pause on illustrations and ask what your child notices or predicts to build comprehension.
3️⃣Character‑voice reading — Use playful voices and let your child “perform” a character to boost engagement and confidence.

Uno dei nostri momenti di lettura preferiti a scuola è la lettura condivisa, cioè quando insegnanti e bambini leggono insieme, si fermano per prevedere cosa potrebbe accadere, esplorano le emozioni dei personaggi e collegano la storia alla vita reale.
Queste sessioni sviluppano comprensione, empatia e sicurezza… e sono altrettanto magiche da fare anche a casa!

Ecco alcune idee per allenare la lettura condivisa a casa:
1️⃣ Fare a turno: Alternatevi nella lettura delle pagine per rendere l’esperienza divertente e coinvolgente.
2️⃣ Momento immagini: Fermatevi sulle illustrazioni e chiedete al bambino o alla bambina cosa nota o cosa pensa che succederà, per rafforzare la comprensione.
3️⃣ Voci dei personaggi: Usate voci giocose e lasciate che il bambino o la bambina “interpreti” un personaggio per aumentare coinvolgimento e sicurezza.

At Chatterbox, children don’t just read — they track their reading journey through our beloved Library Cards. Every book borrowed becomes a little milestone, and completing a card earns a celebratory sticker and house points.
It’s a simple system that helps children feel proud of their progress and excited to choose their next book.

How can you keep track of your child’s reading progress at home? 🧐⬇
1️⃣Reading log — Keep a small list of books read, with dates and a favourite moment from each story.
2️⃣Progress chart — Use a simple chart or sticker grid to mark every completed reading session.
3️⃣Story talk notes — Ask your child to write down one short sentence after each book about what they enjoyed or learned.

1️⃣ Registro di lettura — Tieni una piccola lista dei libri letti, con date e un momento preferito di ogni storia.
2️⃣ Scala del progresso — Usa una semplice tabella o una griglia con adesivi per segnare ogni sessione di lettura completata.

🇬🇧 Our Summer Reading Project begins today! 🌞📚
At Chatterbox, reading is at the heart of many things we do — from our cosy library corners to our year‑round reading challenges, to our guests authors and book‑based activities.
Keeping children reading during the holidays helps them stay curious and connected to learning. That's why our Primary teachers have created a 4-week summer reading project for our newsletter subscribers, suggesting age-tailored books and activitites for the month of August.

If you've signed up to our newsletter, the first set of summer material is now available in your inbox — happy reading! 📚💛

Here are some tips to encourage your child to read😉⬇️
1️⃣Daily reading — Just a few minutes of reading each day keeps skills strong and curiosity alive.
2️⃣Book choice — Let children choose what they read: motivation grows when the book feels “theirs.”
3️⃣Story talk — A quick chat about the story boosts comprehension, language, and imagination.

Da Chatterbox la lettura è al centro di molte cose che facciamo, dai nostri angoli lettura, alle sfide di lettura, a ospiti autori e alle attività sui libri.
Leggere anche durante le vacanze aiuta i bambini e le bambine a rimanere curiosi e connessi all’apprendimento.
Per questo, le nostre insegnanti della scuola primaria hanno creato un progetto di lettura estivo di 4 settimane per gli iscritti alla newsletter, con suggerimenti di libri e attività pensati per ogni fascia d’età.

Ecco qualche consiglio per incoraggiare i bambini alla lettura 😉⬇️
1️⃣ Lettura quotidiana — Anche pochi minuti al giorno mantengono vive le competenze e la curiosità.
2️⃣ Scelta del libro — Lascia che i bambini scelgano cosa leggere: la motivazione cresce quando il libro è “loro”.
3️⃣ Parlare della storia — Una breve chiacchierata sul libro migliora comprensione, linguaggio e immaginazione.

🇬🇧 What an incredible week‑long adventure has just ended for some of our Primary, Secondary and College (afternoon English courses) students at St Giles School in Cambridge! 🤩

From unforgettable punting along the River Cam to inspiring museum visits and cultural excursions, every day brought new discoveries. 🤓

Inside the school, engaging lessons unfolded in cutting‑edge, fully equipped classrooms and modern learning spaces that made the experience even more special.

👌A perfect blend of learning and adventure!😜
🇮🇹 Che incredibile avventura di una settimana si è appena conclusa per alcuni dei nostri studenti di Primary, Secondary e College (corsi di inglese pomeridiani) alla St Giles School di Cambridge! 🤩

Dalle indimenticabili uscite in punting lungo il fuime Cam, alle visite ai musei e alle escursioni culturali, ogni giorno ha portato nuove scoperte. 🤓

All’interno della scuola, le lezioni si sono svolte in aule moderne, all’avanguardia e completamente attrezzate, rendendo l’esperienza ancora più speciale.

Relaxing story time before lunch 📖
And in the afternoon... creative workshop! 🎨

We keep the routine to a minimum to make sure our kids have relaxing and enjoyable days as they’re almost ready for the summer holidays 🏖️
