🎉🎂 We can hardly believe it... the OSCAR project started 1,000 days ago!

✨ What began as an idea has grown into an incredible journey of collaboration, learning, innovation, and impact. Over the past 1,000 days, we've had the privilege of working with amazing partners, educators, researchers, and students. 🤝💡

🚀 Looking back, we're proud of everything we've achieved together. Looking ahead, we're even more excited about what lies ahead.

📚 A new milestone for the OSCAR project!

We are proud to share that the paper "Dalla didattica della matematica alla didattica dell'informatica: il modello OSCAR come framework di valutazione affettivo-cognitivo" has been accepted for presentation at the 4th Italian Conference on Computer Science Education (Convegno Itadinfo) which will take place in Padua from 9–11 October 2026.

The paper, authored by Gennaro Iaccarino and Ilenia Fronza, explores how the OSCAR model can support the evaluation of both cognitive and affective dimensions in computer science education, contributing to innovative approaches in teaching and learning.

🎤 Gennaro Iaccarino will present the work during the conference, sharing the project's research outcomes with the Italian Computer Science Education community.

🚀 Behind the scenes at MobileDev 2026 – OSCAR Edition!

These days, the teams at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano and University of Jyväskylä - Jyväskylän yliopisto are working hard in Jyväskylä to prepare the OSCAR platform for the upcoming app development coding camp, taking place in Bolzano from September 14–18.

They designed it.

From the very first idea to the final presentation, every team collaborated to create interactive AR experiences, combining creativity, technology, and problem-solving.

Every project tells a different story—but they all share the same goal: learning by doing.

🌳🎮 Meet the Teams — Coding Focazz

What does it take to protect a city's green spaces?

The team Coding Focazz developed Trash Waves, a serious game that raises awareness about the importance of keeping public parks and urban green areas clean and accessible for everyone. ♻️💚

In the game, an unexpected wave of polluters has invaded the city's main park, covering it with waste and threatening one of the community's most valuable spaces.

🦸 As a young model citizen, your mission is clear: identify the polluters, defeat them, clean up the park, and restore it to the community.

A project that turns environmental responsibility into an engaging challenge, showing how individual actions can help protect shared spaces.

💡 How is OSCAR doing on gender balance?
Based on our latest camp on mobile app development, we'd say we're moving in the right direction.

36.8% of our participants were girls 👩‍💻🚀

This reinforces a simple idea: when computer science is framed around creativity, collaboration, and innovation, more students feel encouraged to get involved.

And that's exactly what makes OSCAR stronger. 💙
