Bologna is the regional capital of Emilia Romagna and is the seventh largest in Italy. The city is frequently ranked among the top cities in Italy in terms of quality of life. In 2011 it was ranked number one.

History and Culture
Bologna has a history that dates back to 1000 BC, it boasts the oldest university in the world (founded in 1088); it is famous for its long porticos (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) and as a result of restoration and conservation policy which began at the end of the 1970s, Bologna has one of the largest preserved historical centre in Italy. It has been declared a UNESCO “city of music” and in 2000 the European capital of culture. Over the centuries Bologna has been the birthplace of renown writers, thinkers and scientists; more recently that of famous sport personalities and the adopted home of writers such as Umberto Eco.

Gastronomy

Villa Magli™ dates from the 18th Century and is situated in an estate of over 22 hectares in the hills overlooking the city of Bologna and a five minute drive away from the city centre.
