🔥 Trench Stove

This compact portable stove was produced during WWI and used by soldiers to heat rations and boil water in the trenches.

It belonged to a family whose member fought in WWI and, with the outbreak of WWII, was passed down to the younger men of the family. Having survived two world wars with the same family, it became a symbol of generational continuity through wartime.

Now digitized in 3D by Fundacja Akcelerator Obywatelski Spark (Poland), this small object carries a story spanning generations.

💊 Riga Military Hospital Pharmacy Prescription

This prescription was issued in 1940 by the pharmacy of Riga Military Hospital to the daughter of a Latvian army official. Its unusual trapezoidal shape allowed pharmacists to attach it directly to the medicine bottle.

The hospital was one of the largest military hospitals in the Russian Empire and later became an important center of military medicine in Latvia.

🥾 Boot Jack

This simple wooden boot jack was used by soldiers of the Latvian National Armed Forces. When the army was disbanded during the first Soviet occupation, many belongings were lost — but this one was hidden and survived in excellent condition, still fully functional.

📷 Minox Camera

This tiny Minox camera was produced in Latvia in the 1930s and used for Soviet intelligence during WWII. Its small size made it ideal for covert photography, while women were often involved in spy work because they faced less scrutiny at checkpoints.

Designed by Walter Zapp, the Minox became an iconic Latvian invention and is now part of the Latvian Cultural Canon.

🌍 On May 8th, the Partners of the SURVIVE project gathered for an online meeting dedicated to sharing and discussing the activities we are currently implementing within the project. Together with our Partners, we presented how we are organizing and carrying out activities such as Human Library sessions, Urban Trekking, and the production of video testimonies. The meeting was a valuable opportunity to exchange ideas, experiences, and different approaches while working together to preserve important stories of resilience and memory. ✨📚🎥
