Condividi
Cellular and Molecular Biology The program consists of both lectures and experimental research activities.
Training goals
The general aim of the PhD program is to prepare high-level young researchers able i) to conduct scientific investigations, ii) to analyze and interpret experimental results, iii) to formulate and test scientific hypotheses, iv) to communicate scientific data, and v) to plan and organize both basic and applied research projects in leading fields of modern biology. The PhD program wi
ll provide the students with in-depth knowledge of cellular and molecular biology as well as experimental research training on specific scientific topics. The program is highly flexible and will adapt to the specific interests of the student. Type of activities to be carried out by Ph.D students
The activities carried out by PhD students are aimed at the acquisition of the scientific method of investigation and analysis, thus the type of activity consists of: • Experimental research activity, 1300-1400 hours/Year • Regular reading of scientific publications • Presentations and discussions of their own experimental findings (lab meetings and journal clubs) • Seminars to other students and Faculty in dedicated workshops • Presentation of experimental results to national and international scientific meetings • Preparation of reports / abstracts at regular workshops • Tutoring of students of relevant university degree programs
Expected research outcomes
Original scientific papers and reviews in scientific journals with significant impact factor (IF) • A good cumulative IF of published works • Publications of book chapters • Oral presentations to national or international scientific meetings • Presentation of posters at conferences • Publications of abstracts in conference proceedings. Career opportunities
Carry out research and development activities in public or private institutions and biotech incubators • Carry out coordination activities in the areas of biochemistry and cellular biology • Promote and develop technological innovation in the field of
pharmaceuticals biotechnology, diagnostics, biomaterials, vaccines, and in scientific communication • Carry out activities in laboratories dedicated to molecular diagnostic services • Contribute to the development of cell or animal models for design and research • Manage administrative procedures in scientific public / private institutions in order to get research funding from national / European agencies, and to protect intellectual property in the biomedical field • Launch spin-off, with biology / biotechnology applications • Teaching positions in schools at all levels, once completed the additional required training.
