🌲 The students of Wood Architecture designed for the future of Yoshino’s forests!

Tutored by Taro Okabe, Art Director at Shigeru Ban Architects Paris, they designed a new visitor centre overlooking the Yoshino River, exploring how timber architecture can preserve local craftsmanship, engage with the landscape and contribute to the regeneration of a fragile rural territory.

What happens when young designers, leading professionals, and Italian excellence come together?

From July 15 to 17, six Yacademy students joined an intensive workshop in Sicily with Giorgia Donà and Cansu Usta from Stefano Boeri Interiors, hosted by Spiver, an innovative company specialising in decorative finishes, at Relais Villa Flora.

🎨 The challenge? Designing a showroom for Santoni, the Italian luxury brand renowned for its handcrafted footwear, by experimenting with Spiver’s materials, surfaces, colours, and textures

A unique opportunity to learn from top professionals and work alongside two outstanding examples of Made in Italy!

💭The students of Concept Design for Architecture explored how cities could coexist with nuclear infrastructure.

Led by Liam Young, filmmaker and visionary of speculative architecture, and Giulio Rigoni, Associate at BIG – Bjarke Ingels Group, they imagined future urban scenarios where nuclear power becomes a structured condition of inhabitation, developing visions of resilient cities metabolizing risk, technology and deep time through design.

The courses in Wood Architecture, Concept Design for Architecture, and Spiritual Architecture have also come to an end.

These past few months have been full of inspiring moments. Students visited hidden places normally closed to the public, admired breathtaking views, and discovered the works of great artists. They met Kengo Kuma and architects from leading firms, worked on a real-world design project, and built the sets for a theatrical production.
