Weekend vibes! A visit to Marina di Massa and Montecatini Terme in Tuscany. Also a delicious lunch with tortelli Maremmani (stuffed with meat and served with a meat sauce” as well as a creative Cappellaci stuffed with carbonara and served with carbonara sauce.
FYI Montecatini Terme is a town famoys for its curative thermal waters but we arrived too late, but wanted to show you the beautiful entrance of this historic and still operating structure.

Sunday lunch vibes. On this grey damp day, we tried out a new place. We had a fried crescentine which by Bologna’s rules should be long enough to stuff and fold in half and eat like a sandwich!
Followed by this delightfully crispy lasagne with besciamella and meat sauce and spinach green dough and lastly, a delicious cotoletta which is breaded, fried, topped with parmigiano cheese and a slice of prosciutto crudo and placed under the broiler until melted.
The dessert menu looked great but we were too stuffed to eat anything else anyway.
The only problem is that its outside the city center and it is extremely difficult to get a table in this tiny place.
We walked to and from - got some great exercise while we were at it!

I now want to make some Bolognese lasagne soon!!

Bologna: some streets are narrow and quiet and others are wide and loud.

Cappellacci di Zucca is a taste of Italy!
This Emilia-Romagna pasta is filled with roasted butternut squash and served in three delicious ways: butter & sage, balsamic, or meat ragu’.
Choose your shape: big hat 🎩 (Cappellacci), squares, or triangles.

Happy World Pasta Day! Bologna's gift to the world is Tortellini in brodo - tender pasta filled with a delicious mix of pork and cheese, served in a flavorful meat broth. This traditional dish was once served on grand occasions like weddings and Christmas, but now it's perfect for any day, especially when the weather is gloomy. Let's get cooking - broth and tortellini are calling 🤩

October 23rd is World Pasta Day!

Here is a scrumptious Amatriciana with rigatoni dish I had 10 days ago in Rome.
I do not have a personal favorite pasta shape to eat with Amatriciana but there is certainly an advantage to eating these sauces with a short pasta such a rigatoni…no accidental splatters on your clothes!

I always seems to be wearing white or light coloured clothes when eating tomato based sauces and invariably get some tomato stains on myself - argh! But this lunch was perfect in every way :)

Which is your preferred pasta shape to accompany the Amatriciana sauce: spaghetti, rigatoni or another pasta shape?

It’s World Pasta Day! Did you know that Spaghetti Carbonara is the number 1 pasta dish requested by tourists in Italy?*
While Spaghetti is the most popular pasta format amongst tourists in Italy, most Italians prefer their Carbonara sauce, a rich egg, pork cheek, pecorino cheese and black pepper sauce with tonnarelli (similar to a very thick spaghetti) or a short pasta such as rigatoni. Slide to see photo!

*according to international pasta org

Let me know in the comments which is your favorite pasta to eat with the Carbonara sauce?
