It was a very nice evening at Circolo Tennis (Giardini Margherita, Bologna) with three dear friends. Professor Michel Armand, who has wrote an important chapter in the history of solid electrolyte and Li ion batteries, Maryse, his lovely wife, and Professor Marina Mastragostino, my mentor since when I was a chemistry student. I knew Michel and Maryse in 1989 in Siena at Second International Symposium on Polymer Electrolytes and, since then, every time we met is always amazing (and Maryse is really special).

On June 20th, at ENI Donegani Institute in Novara, Caterina Bellatreccia has been Awarded by 2nd Massimo Soprani Award for her MSc thesis "Investigation of current collectors for anode-free solid-state batteries", carried out in collaboration with TZE and LEME, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Karl-Heinz Pettinger and Catia Arbizzani. The Award is intended to reward two experimental degree theses in the sector of technologies and systems for electrochemical energy storage. It is an institutional recognition wanted by INSTM in one of the research sectors in great development and of considerable interest both for INSTM and for Europe. The initiative received the patronage of the GISEL Association and the Department of Environmental Sciences and Policies of the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Milan and is organized in collaboration with Eni SpA.
Congratulations, Caterina!

Pint of Science 2024: "Dal carbonio non nasce niente? Le energie del futuro (Nothing comes from carbon? The energies of the future)". Giampaolo Lacarbonara (LEME) and Francesco Paolucci (EMFM) did an exciting talk, answering to the title question: Francesco started describing the different forms of carbon for energy conversion, and Giampaolo concluded with the importance of carbon on energy storage. The students greatly appreciated the nice talks and the friendly atmosphere at Birreria Popolare. https://pintofscience.it/events/bologna
