🌍📈 Over 200,000 Annual Engagements on Social Media Platforms! 📊📚

Today, I conducted a brief analysis 📊 on how social media platforms can bring attention to academic topics that are too often overlooked. My journey with social media started during my time at the Institute of Criminology at Cambridge University 🏛️, where I realized the potential of these platforms in raising awareness for issues like prison education—topics that are frequently forgotten in the public debate. A heartfelt thank you to Cambridge for inspiring this journey! 🙏

The data shows that LinkedIn and Twitter collectively generate over 184,000 annual engagements, while Instagram contributes an additional 49,752 interactions—a combined total of more than 230,000 annual engagements! 🎉

As academics and advocates, it’s up to us to ensure these important topics get the visibility they deserve. Social media is a powerful tool for advancing these discussions 🗣️, raising awareness, and driving impactful change 🚀. How are you using social media to make a difference?

"See, the important thing is that we have proven the impossible becomes possible. Ten, fifteen, twenty years ago, it was impossible to think a mental asylum could be dismantled. [...] Next to the asylum, we have another institution with a similar integrative function: the prison."
— (BASAGLIA; ONGARO BASAGLIA, 2000)

Reflecting on the powerful legacy of Franco Basaglia's movement for the overcoming of asylums, I can’t help but draw parallels to today’s ongoing efforts to challenge and transform our prison systems. Real change is not just possible—it is necessary.
