The Blank Contemporary Art, Istanbul Modern , and MAC – Museo d' Arte Contemporanea di Lissone are among the winners of the 15th edition of Italian Council, the prestigious program promoted by the General Directorate for Contemporary Creativity of the Italian Ministry of Culture. The grant was awarded to the project Cartography of a Restless Sea. Textile Allegories and Global Currents, a major new commission by Ismaele Nones.
The project involves the production of a large-scale modular textile installation composed of forty-nine interconnected elements, conceived as an expansive narrative surface capable of weaving together visual, ecological, and geopolitical references.
In Autumn 2027, Ismaele Nones new production will be presented, accompanied by a Public Program, at Istanbul Modern. In February 2028, the work will enter the permanent collection of the MAC. The exhibition will be curated by Çelenk Bafra, Artistic Director of Istanbul Modern, and Stefano Raimondi, Director of The Blank Contemporary Art and Artistic Director of MAC - leading figures on the international curatorial scene, who have long been committed to developing exhibition and research programmes capable of connecting the national art scene with the global debate.
