At the final Summer Club of the season, children explored mindfulness and yoga through a combination of movement, breathing, and moments of stillness. 🌿

They discovered how movement, breath, and emotions are deeply connected, and how paying attention to each of them can help us find balance and focus. Through simple exercises and mindful practices, they experienced moments of calm and concentration, while learning to listen to themselves in an atmosphere of harmony and care.
A space to slow down, reconnect, and discover how movement and stillness can work together to support balance, concentration, and a greater sense of awareness.

Thank you to Simona from Gioia Mundi for sharing this experience with our children. ✨

Learning doesn’t always happen from teacher to student. Sometimes, it happens from child to child. 🌱

In Montessori classrooms, mixed-age groupings create opportunities for children to learn from one another, reflecting the natural way people live — in families, workplaces, and communities.
This structure creates daily opportunities for children to teach and be taught. Since every child excels at something different, each one gets regular chances to share what they know, and the roles aren’t fixed.

A five-year-old who once needed help from an older peer becomes, in turn, the one guiding a three-year-old. That shift from learner to leader builds real emotional intelligence, because it requires patience, awareness, and care for someone still developing a skill you’ve already mastered. 🤝

This dynamic benefits both sides. Older children deepen their own understanding by explaining and guiding, while younger ones absorb new skills through observation. Through these everyday exchanges, children soon learn that we can all learn from each other — no one is only a teacher or only a student.

Along the way, children build empathy and respect for different levels of ability, not as an abstract lesson, but as something practiced daily through real interaction with people older and younger than themselves. ✨

Water may be part of our everyday lives, but there is always more to discover.💧

At the Water Club, children had the opportunity to slow down and explore this familiar element from a different perspective. Through sensory experiences and simple experiments, they observed its properties, noticed how it behaves, and discovered how even the smallest changes can spark a question.

Their curiosity also led them beneath the surface, as they explored marine life with a particular focus on whales and their different species. They discovered how vocalizations play an important role within whale communities, serving as a way to communicate, coordinate, and maintain social connections.

From scientific exploration to carefree splashing, water became a way to connect curiosity with play — while nurturing an early awareness of the importance of protecting one of our most precious natural resources.

A refreshing reminder that sometimes, wonder can be found in the simplest things. ☀️

What may look like a simple activity is, in Montessori, a carefully prepared opportunity for learning.🌱

As children stretch rubber bands around a peg board to create shapes, they engage in purposeful work that supports multiple areas of development. They strengthen the pincer grip, preparing the hand for future pencil use, while refining hand-eye coordination through precise, intentional movements.

As they plan and complete each design, children develop concentration, logical thinking, and the ability to organise a sequence of actions. The peg board also offers freedom within limits—a fundamental Montessori principle—encouraging creativity as children explore geometric shapes and patterns within a carefully prepared structure.

Because the activity is self-correcting, children can observe, evaluate, and refine their own work independently, building both confidence and autonomy.

In Montessori, the hand is the instrument of the mind. Through purposeful movement, children bring together will, intelligence, and action, laying the foundations for meaningful learning. 🧡

Few summer moments are more eagerly awaited than enjoying an ice cream on a warm day. At last week's Summer Club, children turned that familiar excitement into an opportunity to explore what lies behind one of summer's favourite traditions. 🍦
They discovered the history and science of ice cream, learned how it is made, and explored the ingredients and processes behind every scoop. Through healthy recipes and hands-on kitchen activities, they experienced how cooking can become a meaningful way to observe, experiment, and create.

Thank you Vicook for making experiences like these a part of everyday life at Nautilus, inspiring our children to explore, create, and discover through food every single day. ✨

Every Summer Club at Nautilus opens the door to a new world. At our Capoeira Summer Club, children stepped into a vibrant Brazilian tradition where movement, music, and collaboration come together. 🇧🇷

Through engaging activities inspired by Capoeira, they developed balance, coordination, concentration, and body awareness while learning to work together and move in rhythm. As they explored this unique cultural tradition, they also discovered the instruments at the heart of Capoeira, listening to their distinctive sounds, learning about their meaning, and crafting their own.

To wrap up this colorful journey, the children took part in an authentic Capoeira roda, coming together in a circle to sing, clap, and play just as capoeiristas do, putting into practice everything they had learned about rhythm, respect, and teamwork. 🥁🤸‍♀️

A heartfelt thank you to Mantova Capoeira for introducing our children to this enriching experience and showing them how culture can be discovered through movement, music, and creativity.

Last week at our Summer Club, we celebrated one of the season’s most joyful traditions: the picnic. 🧺

Our children took on the roles of both sellers and shoppers at their own farmers’ market, selecting fresh, seasonal ingredients and learning to prepare a wholesome, delicious picnic basket entirely from scratch.

In our tranquil backyard meadow, they savored quiet moments of reading about the joys of summer days, while these hands-on experiences enriched their vocabulary, nurtured practical life skills, and cultivated grace and courtesy.

A week beautifully filled with meaningful learning and the bliss of summer. ☀️

Long before a child writes their first letter, their hands are already preparing for it. 🌱

In Montessori, writing begins long before a child picks up a pencil. Before letters can be formed, the hand must become strong, coordinated, and capable of precise, intentional movement. This is why Practical Life activities, including scissor work, are considered an indirect preparation for language.

As children learn to use scissors, they refine hand-eye coordination by following a line with precision, strengthen the small muscles of the hand and wrist, and develop the control needed to support a mature pencil grip. They also practise coordinating both hands as each performs a different task—one hand cuts while the other stabilises and turns the paper—while building concentration, patience, and the ability to complete a sequence of movements from beginning to end.

What may appear to be a simple cutting activity is, in reality, carefully prepared work. Each intentional movement helps build the physical control, confidence, and independence children will later draw upon when they are ready to express their thoughts through writing. 🧡

What can children learn from a tiny creature like a bee? 🐝

As part of last week's Summer Club, children discovered the fascinating world of bees, learning how these tiny yet extraordinary creatures play a vital role in sustaining biodiversity and the balance of our ecosystems.
Through storytelling, music and hands-on experiences with natural beeswax, they explored the life of bees and discovered how even the smallest living beings can have a profound impact on the world around us.
By observing, creating and learning together, children developed a deeper appreciation for nature and the connections that unite all living things.

A beautiful reminder that caring for our planet begins with understanding and valuing every form of life, no matter how small. 🌼💛

Summer Clubs are underway! ☀️

Last week marked the beginning of our Summer Clubs, a series of themed experiences that will accompany our children throughout the coming weeks, offering opportunities to explore, create, discover and connect through a wide variety of hands-on activities.

We began with the Art Club, where children immersed themselves in the worlds of two extraordinary artists, each representing what children seek during this special season. 🎨

Through Yayoi Kusama, they celebrated the season's joy, colour and spontaneity, creating their own Obliteration Room inspired by her playful vision. They also explored the need for calm, the balance of light and shadow, and a deeper connection with nature through Claude Monet and his garden in Giverny.

A wonderful start to a summer filled with curiosity, creativity and meaningful experiences.
