Another tumulus! We can hardly believe it, but this season the San Giuliano Archaeological Research Project has helped to uncover a second intact tumulus on the Caiolo Plateau. We are so excited to share this discovery with the town of Barbarano Romano and our many wonderful partners. Thank you to Rinaldo Marchesi, Angelo Fiaschetti, Giuseppe Fortuna, Angela Cassota, Vittorio Sperandei and to the Parco Regionale Marturanum, Virgil Academy, and the Soprintendenza Archeologia, Belle Arti e Paesaggio per La provincia di Viterbo e per l’Etruria Meridionale. Finally, a massive congratulations to Dr. Jamie Aprile, the director of the Caiolo Plateau excavations! We are thrilled!

It was wonderful to share the details of this new tumulus and to reveal the conserved artifacts in the Museo delle Necropoli Rupestri!
