COPTIC BOOK WORKSHOP SATURDAY, AUGUST 4, 9am-4pm

This one-day workshop will be an introduction to hand bookbinding and the Coptic (chain-stitched) book. This binding structure hails from the earliest period of the codex book form in the second century C.E., and remains a useful and popular binding to this day. Because it is usually non-adhesive with an exposed spine, it is a flexible structure that lies completely flat, making it a great option for journals and is also an easy structure for adding prints, collages, etc. to the interior with decorative elements to the spine and cover boards. In this workshop we'll be using wrapped binding board for the covers. Fun & easy. No experience necessary. Everyone is guaranteed to go home with a finished book.
