As the name implies it considers itself a school, but if we imagine that we did not only call it a school, but something else such as 'a work of art', or 'a commune' these terms seem to be able to fit as well, and not only do they fit, but they seem to be able to describe some aspects of this place which we consider to be essential. LungA School in Seyðisfjörður is looking to hire a Operations Manager for a 50% position.

We are looking for someone highly organised and collaborative but with an openness and understanding of the needs of artistic practices. They should be an excellent communicator with great attention to detail and be passionate about supporting learning. We are looking for an imaginative person who believes in alternative education and is excited by the possibilities of residential, non-hierarchical, peer-to-peer learning.

As Administrator, you will care for the school’s activities, connecting partners, participants, and staff, responding to the porous nature of the school and its shifting needs. This role is not just about organisation, but about supporting the school in each of its iterations as a community within a community.

We insist that seeing, thinking and doing are not separate activities. We insist on the infinite potential that each situation and everyone in it holds and on drawing out those potentials. We insist on giving time, space, support, and amplification to everyone so that their language, the way they interact with all material and immaterial circumstances, may be developed and rooted in them and in their lives.
