On Saturday January 15th we took some pictures and interviews of the first action of the year about the plastics campaign, in Lækjartorg. We brought with us a box filled with plastic waste to highlight the Icelandic government's massive shortcomings in waste management.

The statistics released by the Icelandic Recycling Fund are far from real, since they present incinerated plastic as recycled plastic. Nevertheless, even recycling is far from effective, since less than 10% of plastic that has ever been produced, has been recycled. The remainder has been landfilled, burned or is polluting our waterways.

We have three goals: We want the Icelandic government to assume responsibility and tell the truth about the massive shortcomings in waste management and to disambiguate the effectiveness of recycling. We want the government to stop funding corrupt liars who fail to deliver their promises. We want to hear how everyone wants to deal with this phenomenon, with plastic waste.

The Recycled House is solely a provocative environmental project that was intended to raise awareness for a crucial issue, yet the biggest passion behind this atypical project is rather the owner’s obsession to give a new meaning to objects that were deemed unworthy by modern society.

The house is close to Dalur hostel in Reykjavik and free to visit!

Finally here are the photos!

December 5th was the International Volunteer Day!

And to celebrate this day we sang some Christmas carols in a retirement home near Reykjavik and in the afternoon we were invited by the President of Iceland to his residence!

The President thanked us for our contribution, commitment, dedication, change and the social impact we bring to society.

We exchanged ideas and conversed on various current issues, especially regarding environmental sustainability and the policies in place in Iceland.

We also gave the President a book with different international recipes!

It was an exciting time and a stimulus for our future, dreams and for future activities aimed at continuously improving our world.

Our will is going to leave a mark, a message like the one we have on our shirt:

Volunteer: a person who can change the world by helping other people.
