WATCH: Incredible drone footage of Humpback Whales' feeding frenzy in Norway 27/06/2016

Astonishing footage from last winter's (2015) humpback whale feeding frenzy in Norway by Patrick Dykstra. The last six years, humpback whales have spent early and mid winter feeding on massive shoals of herring at the northern coast of Norway (Tromsø and Vesterålen islands)

These kids were students at the University of the Youth summer school at the University of Iceland. Big thanks to Elding Whale Watching Reykjavik

Íslenskir háhyrningar við Skotland S*x íslenskir háhyrningar halda sig nú á Moray-firði, við norðausturströnd Skotlands. Fjörðurinn er kunnur sem viðkomustaður smáhvela. Vísindamenn segja hins vegar að þetta sé í fyrsta sinn sem íslenskir háhyrningar sjáist svo sunnarlega.

Töldu um 50 hnúfubaka 07/03/2016

Some humpback whales are in no hurry to the warm sub-tropics while food is available up here in the sub-arctic. Right now is the breeding season of the humpback whales and it has traditionally been assumed that these giants would be more or less busy down south at this time of year trying to multiply. But recent findings have shown that some humpback whales spend the winter here up north to continue feeding and possibly breeding. They at least sing during the winter in Iceland like there's no tomorrow, such behaviour is closely associated with breeding activity. We hope to find out very soon more about the humpback whales' doings during the winter in the sub-arctic
