Rannsóknasetur Háskóla Íslands á Húsavík / Húsavík Research Centre Við setrið eru stundaðar rannsóknir á sjávarspendýrum. Einnig er unnið að rannsókn á áhrifum ferðaþjónustu í byggðum landsins.

Samstarf við háskóla og stofnanir hérlendis og erlendis er mikið, bæði um rannsóknir og kennslu. Forstöðumaður setursins er dr. Marianne Helene Rasmussen líffræðingur og sérfræðingur í sjávarspendýrum.

This week we finished collaboratively teaching for the DIS Copenhagen Arctic Marine Mammals course. Seventeen international students joined us in Húsavík and practiced research techniques such as photo-identification, acoustic recording and land-based tracking.

Today our annual "studying marine mammals in the wild" course, run in partnership with UW Iceland, concluded.
Students presented projects on whale behaviour, size class and body condition, parasite occurrence, and proposing a documentary about Skjálfandi Bay.
Thank you to Húsavík Whale Museum, North Sailing, Gentle Giants Whale Watching and Stéttin - Húsavík for playing key roles in hosting the students.
