The Harvard Youth Lead the Change organisation's workshop concluded on Friday after a wonderful 4 days of instruction by Chine (Harvard, Public Health Administration) and Hudson (Harvard, Pre-Med). The students learned valuable life skills for impacting change they would like to see in the world. They enjoyed a variety of team building exercises, practiced public speaking and debate through workshops and Model UN, as well as studied and created plans to follow-through on a social change project. It was wonderful to see the passion in our group of students and to see their confidence grow.

The cultural events department from the Embassy of Japan in Iceland coordinated a visit by professional kendama players. Davide, representing Krom Kendama, gave a demonstration on the ancient sport, and then let the kids give it a try! Student volunteers excitedly stood up in front of the school and showed their kendama skills. The demonstration ended with a gift of kendamas for the school, and we are happy to say that they get a lot of use - they have even been utilized in a physics lesson on intertia!

During Icelandic classes, students have been learning about old Icelandic traditions related to Þorrinn. Our teachers were kind enough to bring in some of the best samplings of Þorramatur (súrsaður lundabaggi, hákarl, sviðasulta, harðfiskur and kleinur) for the students to taste! What´s your favorite?

The International School of Iceland (ISI), in collaboration with partners from Latvia and Lithuania, recently completed a NordPlus project. At the core of the project is a shared dedication to inclusivity and accessibility.
Partners in Latvia and Lithuania visited the International School of Iceland in Fall 2022. In Fall 2023, the journey continued as Elisa and Amelia, representing ISI, visited Crow Island School in Lithuania. Our gratitude to Nordplus, the Nordic Council of Ministers, who provided the grant.
