Late and chaotic as always, but slowly getting there.... Rætur Framtíðar 2026 will happen at LbhÍ in Hvanneyri this weekend. One of the perks of having the university as co-host is lunch on both day and breakfast on Sunday - for 2500 kr each. The event itself is free of charge, of course.

The pub in Hvanneyri will open for us on Saturday evening so everyone up to it can hang out and have a hamburger and a drink :-)

Sunday morning will be dedicated to fungi, as it was two years ago. The funding wasn't enough to invite a prominent guest from abroad this time around, but we'll have fun anyway!

Only a couple of days to go until Rætur Framtíðar :-D

Safwan Daud will talk about fungal biodiversity under forested sites in Western Iceland. He is a master's student in biology at Háskóli Íslands, researching how afforestation impacts fungi, bacteria and other ground-dwelling lifeforms. Looking very much forward!

We are especially happy to welcome back mycologist Guðríður Gyða Eyjólfsdóttir, who will talk about the role fungi play in (subarctic) ecosystems!

Growing reishi always fascinates me. Eventually I will come around to grow some in a neat spiral, using a mobile light source and ventilation :)
