In the field of medical sciences and medical education, one of the most important aspects of learning is the hands-on experience and practical training from which the students benefit. Based on this necessity, TUMS has a huge advantage with regard to other similar universities, as it has 16 teaching and treatment hospitals which cover a population of more than 3,000,000 people, providing TUMS students with ample and valuable opportunities to put their knowledge to practice in the field.
Tehran University of Medical Sciences, as one of the country’s top research universities, is not solely made up of its schools. A substantial share of the university’s endeavor is oriented toward the improvement of research and analytical groundwork in order to render scientific growth for the country. There are over 90 specialized research centers such as Science and Technology in Medicine, Rheumatology, Auditory, Digestive Disease, Skin Diseases and Leprosy, Trauma, Hematology and Oncology, Cardiovascular Diseases, Endocrinology and Metabolism, Reproductive Health, Urology, Immunology, and Asthma and Allergy under the immediate supervision of this university.
Tehran University of Medical Sciences is quite large, considering its campus area. Throughout the years, many buidlings have been erected within or affiliated with this university. Currently, TUMS has 11 schools, 1 international campus on Kish Island, 1 international college, 7 dormitories, as well as more than 90 research centers and institutes.
