FourACI members attended the Symposium on Sustainable, Resilient, and Earthquake-Resistant Structures held at Tishk University – Erbil, organized by the ACI Kurdistan Chapter.

The symposium focused on advanced structural solutions, sustainability, and seismic resilience—essential topics for the future of civil engineering.

ACI members visited Lava City in coordination with the Kurdistan Students and Youth Union and the Committee of the College of Engineering.

The visit offered valuable hands-on exposure to real construction practices and helped strengthen the connection between academic knowledge and practical engineering applications.

We are excited to introduce the new ACI Board!
Each member is committed to leading our chapter, supporting student development, and strengthening our connection with the engineering community.

This year, we aim to deliver a wide range of activities , technical events, site visits, competitions, and opportunities for all our members.

Our chapter organized a competition!
On Monday, May 5th, the ACI Student Chapter members collaborated with Design Day to host a Truss Loading Competition for the first time at the University of Zakho. The event was supervised by (Dr. Siver Dilkhaz), the chapter supervisor, and attended by (Dr. Diar Abdulkarim), President of Zakho University, as well as His Excellency (Heja Mohammed Tawfiq), Associate Leader of Zakho Independent Administration.

This was the first time such a competition was held in Zakho, featuring 12 well-designed and carefully managed projects. Participating students were recognized with certificates for their efforts.

Special thanks to our chapter supervisor and our hardworking members for organizing and managing this exceptional competition!

On Wednesday, July 9, 2024, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Farsat Heeto Abdulrahman, Dean of College of Engineering and under the supervision of Ms. Dr. Sevar Dilkhaz Salahalddin the advisor of (ACI) Students Chapter, The first anniversary of the establishment of the student chapter of the American Concrete Institute in the College of Engineering was held in the presence of a number of distinguished guests The main points of this chapter were made for the importance of their clear evaluation in the initial steps and development of this chapter.

On this occasion, Engineer Mohammed Tawfiq, The Deputy Supervisor of Zakho Independent Administration, held a seminar on the current and past works, activities and services of Zakho Independent Administration

In the last section, the Dean of the College of Engineering presented awards to two retired teachers of the College of Engineering in their absence, namely (Prof. Dr. Ramazan Haji Sulaiman, Professor of Petroleum Engineering and Mr. Hishyar Abdulghafar) a teacher of Civil Engineering - Environment and wished them success in their careers.
